When you expect to successfully compete in the online poker arena, you should treat your time at a virtual poker table as if you were at a job you love. At the same time, you should educate your family that you will actually be working when you sit in front of your computer.

Have you ever been to an online tournament ready to generate some money and realized that the kids will be home soon and you haven’t started dinner yet? Do you suddenly arrive at the end table where every moment counts and your life partner can't wait to show up at the door and ask, "Are we going or not?"

In order to be effective, you have to set yourself up to succeed. You have to make a plan and stick to it.

Easy steps to success at online poker:

    1. Set your intentions. These are all part of taking your online poker seriously and preparing for success. When you mean to kill a little time, you’re probably wasting your money. When you aspire to win, this really changes your focus and commitment. The simple fact is that you have a higher probability of winning when you set the intention to win.

    2. Make a table that is right for you, and write the table in writing. There’s something really great about actually writing down what you plan. In the process, this serves to strengthen your intention to become a winning poker player.

    3. Be realistic about your schedule. Since most people do online poker part -time, ask yourself, "How much time can I dedicate to my poker each day?" If you determine that you can set aside two hours, five days a week without interruption, make this your chance. However, if you decide that your personal and family demands allow you to spend five hours twice a week, make that your objective.

To be proficient in anything, you must practice regularly. It's the same with poker.
Hopefully the above tips can help you a little in improving your Poker skills.
