    Hi Folks,

As a further disincentive for members not to violate our rules, posts that receive rule violation warnings will now be blacked out and therefore be made unreadable unless the text is manually selected. This will ensure rule-violating posts get very little attention and visibility while still allowing those who wish to view those posts to do so by simply selecting the blacked-out text.

The idea being that if breaking our rules also makes your posts invisible, then there really isn't a point to breaking our rules since whatever you had to say won't be seen anyway, and you will still get an infraction that can lead to slow-downs.

Please respect our rules and report any posts that violate our rules.

    Thank you.

Blacking out posts that expose cons and scams is a bad idea.

You can still read the redacted comment. It is in very dark grey font - lol. Speaking of redacted! Is there a way that many posts of Jolly Hollywood JB Cat Frostybruh and the new Natural 9 Donald can be redacted too? Such actions may actually springboard his efforts for the 2020 Presidential election run!!!

We're blacking out posts that violate our rules.

Furthermore, threads outside the AP forums are already assumed to be EV- discussions.

Lastly, our rules already prohibit people from selling anything or posting their contact details, so it's next to impossible for anyone to con or scam our members.

    Correct.

As an alternative to the blackout, we can simply make the text of rule-violating posts white so that they're invisible on the white background without the unsightly blackout rectangle. We just thought the blackout rectangle would be better as it at least makes it clear to the reader that there is text being hidden in case they want to highlight it and read it. That being said, if our members prefer white text on a white background (or some other combination that makes the text invisible), we are open to other ideas.

We have taken Nathan Detroit's feedback on board and changed it from an unsightly black rectangle over black text to no rectangle and text that is slightly off-white. This will serve the same purpose as before without being so unsightly. Remember that any rule-violating posts can be read by simply selecting the text that is now near-invisible.
