I happened to watch a bit of "Rain Man" today while channel surfing, and noticed the similarities between Dustin Hoffman's character and the Wiz.

The part where he's being taught to count cards by his brother, then when he's in the casino: I thought I saw similarities, including physical appearance.

No, the Wiz is not autistic, but i found the whole thing thought provoking.

Guess I need to get a life.

Upon further reflection, I guess the combination of similar physical appearance and the card counting / casino activity caused the association in my mind.

I've met the Wiz, and in real life he has normal communication skills, makes eye contact etc. so no, I'm not saying he's a Rain Man.

But sometimes I wonder whether people who are very good at math and math-related activities are "blessed" with a touch of Asperger syndrome, which somehow better enables them to focus upon and understand the complexities of math.

    Yeah, stupid idea.
