So saddened to hear about the greatest boxer passing away. He stood for his beliefs when it wasn't politically correct.
I had the pleasure meeting him several times, he always was a gentleman looked you right in the eyes

A big hero to me. I followed his boxing career from the beginning. My stepdad, an old World War II guy, thought he was a loudmouth. Little known about his refusal to be drafted is that he was initially classified as 4F and ineligible for the draft because he couldn't read and write. But once he became champion they re-classified him to 4A.

The best you can do is to ease yourself into the world, then out, and not be it.

Hostility leads to a rushed life, and early death.

Knocked out by the Reaper in the 74th round. Not bad at all.

Back when he lived in Cherry Hill, my brother took me for a ride in a torrential downpour so I could see where Ali lived.

No curb on the street; in the heavy rain he missed stopping in front, and while backing up he unknowingly ran off the road and sideswiped a phone poll in front of Ali's house.

    But that's just anecdotal fluff.

Ali has a great legacy, no question.

His daughter was a pretty fair boxer as well.

Hell, I miss the heyday of heavyweight boxing: it sucks these days.

not being a boxing fan, I remmeber him more as a kid watching him on the talk shows. The tonite show, Mike Douglas,...and his interaction with Cosell.
As a kid, I didnt watch typical adult shows, like Meet the Press etc. and he actually helped bring out issues that I never knew about.

Not sure you guys knew who was yanking your chain. DLN was the certifiable fruitcake Garnabby from Ontario, Canada, yup the one who has been banned from every forum on the net, multiple times. Now posting as Bill Yung elsewhere.
