I was wondering if you could help me out with a book research question. I’d be very grateful. To be respectful of your time, I’ll come straight to the point.

Imagine if a player has amassed a large pile of chips and wishes to bet the entire pile on a single roulette number, the pile of chips would be too high to stack and so large that it would cover an area spanning many squares.
    1. I imagine the dealer would have to exchange the chips for those of a higher value to reduce the number of chips, correct?
    2. How would the conversation go? Would the player ask for the chips to be exchanged for a higher denomination? Would the player indicate his desire to go ‘all in’ and would that trigger the dealer to do something?
    3. Anything else you can think of that would be important?
Thanks again for any time you could spend on this. I will, of course, credit any help in the acknowledgments section of the book.

Well, you certainly are qualified to write a book on gambling. I would like to be credited for suggesting that asking for the table limit be raised in honor of my obvious ignorance, is good for business.

Player, excuse me dealer were can I put this ? ( indicates with a glance the huge pile of chips in his hands)
Dealer, any number, and by the way I’m glad that huge pile is in your hands and not your pocket . Otherwise I’d have to call security because if it’s not a gun in your pocket then your way to pleased to see me. Oh and if you tip me first , I will land the winner number for you , I’m a Las Vegas dealer , I am an expert.

In their defence your situational awareness was not on point in stating you are a book writer. This forum has just been in a mix of a book writer storm for past few weeks. It has now become obvious you are doing research for a non gambling book per your latest post. Perhaps you could state that first or at least be aware of the process of research.
For instance nasa rovers to Mars are sterile before heading into land so as not to cross contamination from earth. They researched the research protocols before they set off to do their research on Mars.
As a book writer/ potential writer I m sure you will be able to deal similar reactions in future and not be so offended .
There will be other members that having read your update post will be more helpful and amicable to your request now they understand the context.
The reply you have received believe it or not , was not a worthy of complaint respect others post.
If in the sake of doing some exercises in upgrading research skills, please feel free to click on some other threads and read. You will be able to evaluate the degree of “respect” directed at you as opposed to the degree of “respect” posted to others perhaps that will help you with your sliding scale adjustment and you will not be so offended by the two posts above. good luck with your book. Cheers

I do my one dimensional best at all times. Oh I gave you a like welcome to the forum. Now have a bex, a cup of tea and a lay down. Cheers

Well I appreciate your response, but I think if you read my initial post it was very respectful, and I think a pretty simple question. I find it odd that you would consider the responses respectful or appropriate. I'm done unless anyone fells like helping, to be knowledgable about a subject and make fun of someone who wants to learn is a deeply low position to take.

    Lol
Go to a casino and if you don’t get a least one crazy remark from a dealer or another player, I will give you a $100. They all have a pitch, monetary, sexual, humour, sarcasm, helping, hating etc. get out of idaho good luck. Cheers

Ok sad to hear, imho your loss. We are adults now.
For starters reference the layout of roulette table, becoming familiar with the the applicable table min and max bet per wager placement. Each casino has various tables with various limits imposed. Even now I know your on a resherch mission you question still reads like asking an answer to how long is a piece of string? What is the exact amount or at least the chip size denomination. A pile of .25cent chips will elicit a wide range of responses ( use your imagination as you don’t like mine) as opposed to chips of $1000 plus.
With more information you can get a number of responses that you will able to use or retro fit to your character in your book. Cheers

It doesn't bother me at all. Someone has to pay for the chandeliers. Perpetuate the myth. You are writing for an idiot that would make that play. Make up anything you want. The point is entertainment, not truth.

What's more interesting is that you are attempting to act as a "control Freak," now that you have justified your status as a victim. Don't you have parents to piss off at your command post, the PTA? Life does not tolerate fools. I am being respectful. If I were not I would insult you personally. But you are doing a fine enough job of derogating yourself. ...and I did not mean denigrating.

Had you said I'm researching a novel / fiction / tomb / biography where a character in the book is in a scene where he wants to place all his chips on a single number at a Roulette table. ...etc.

You are the one that came begging for research advise. Now you are just a pest acting like you have been injured. You caused all this by the way that you started the whole thing off. You need to apologize to the forum.

Firstly the person to answer your question is someone who frequents casinos a lot and someone who pays attention to what is said on roulette tables. Moreover someone who has played on roulette tables.

To answer your question, first it depends on the circumstances. You are writing a book so will know what this is or shape the part to reflect the situation. Has the dealer already set the ball in motion around the ball track of the wheel? If so, soon, s/he, the dealer will call, 'no more bets' this will occur sooner if the wheel was turned slow and ball spun slow or a bit long if faster. If the ball is spinning, the player having made up his/her mind has a problem, if they are not a pro player. If they are not a pro player they will be in a panic to get the bet on, accepted before the call of no more bets. Assuming the player is a pro and wants to go all in while the ball is spinning, s/he will know the table limit, max allowed on one number straight up bet, and have those cash chips ready. If the player wanted to play a higher amount than the table limit he would have okayed this beforehand with dealer/supervisor let's say double the amount or whatever. Generally a pro player would not hold too many "colour" chips unless of high value and other players at the table were placing cash chips which can cause confusion and start arguments if won on about whose chips belong to who. In short a pro player will know the max bet for one number and will call "$200 on number 32" (or whatever the max bet is, could be $5,000, whatever you want to make it) or "$200 on 32 straight up" / "32 straight up $200" he will shout this loud so dealer hears, and supervisor hear and the microphone on the table picks up his call, and will look at the dealer to make sure s/he heard him and acknowledges him. So long as he makes the call and roughly same time his money or chips to cover the bet are on the table then even though the chips are not on the number, the bet should be accepted, at the same time he will push the chips towards the dealer depends where he is on a table if near to dealer or the dealer will take the chips from him, probably the latter. He has to get his call in before dealer calls no more bets. If he loses the dealer will take the money / chips and throw down hole, if he wins dealer will place the value of his bet $200 or whatever in smaller chips onto the winning number and then place the dolly maker over the winning number on top of his chips and any other winner's chips and then pay out the winners.

If the dealer has not yet spun the ball i.e. started the game then player would say wants to bet the lot or max on whatever number and dealer will exchange those smaller value chips for higher value chips, this happens a lot of a player has many chips of the one colour, each player generally is only allowed to play with one colour if they want to use a colour otherwise can use cash chips. in your story with so many chips it would be best for the player to be using a colour, some casinos have a lot more chips connected to each of the colours than other casinos or tables, so you could say he had 240 colour chips, whatever colour, blue or dark blue for example. For the story I think using colour chips would work better. and he calls the number during the game i.e. with the ball spinning, adds more excitement, place him standing on the end corner of table close to the dealer and have him push all of his chips towards the dealer as he shouts the number he wants. most be bets on single numbers are single zero or high numbers and 2nd column numbers i.e. 23, 26, 29, 32, 35 , ... 32 or 35 if a big fav for players betting big on one number.

if you have any further Qs let me know, I am the greatest, others know nothing or think they know... they know nothing lol lol lol

By the way, as I wrote above if the player is a pro the table limit might have already been raised if player has so many chips, possibly, but if not a pro then player would not know to ask to raise table limit so would just want to get the lot or as much as he can on that one number, thus make the call to the dealer, if the ball is spinning or if before the game he might say he wants to bet the lot on whatever number and the dealer will look at the value of the chips and know if he can or not, if he will be over the limit dealer might ask supervisor if the limit can be raised or superior might interject and inform the player that he could allow the player to bet the lot by authorising the limit to be raised.

I've played in casinos all around the world, I've heard it all, seen it all. Credit me in your book. The others just sit in front of their computers all day and night 24/7 365, most are banned from casinos others can't make it because their in straightjackets.

if he doesn't know there's a limit, he might say "all on number..." when ball is spinning, to say for sure you have to decide is the player a pro or an amateur. If you don't want to say pro you could say regular player, depends on the narrative, does he play often or very little or first time in a casino.

    I'll save you some money.
    Repeats??????
Well we have the expert Dr Sir's posted 10'330 live spins. That gives this average; 1-3-5-7&30.
    40 spins usual is 16; 1-3-5-7
60 spins usual is 30. 30 repeats, so, you must have 30 of the starting 37.
Take a look in why is the average 7.3 for a repeat.

There you have that for nothing

The OP said he was writing a book, posed a scenario and asked how the conversation would go.

I thought my reply was a perfectly acceptable response. How am I to know the book is not supposed to be funny?

Anyway, in the real world there is such a thing as table limits. Where I play those limits are never increased for anyone, ever.

If you want to place bigger bets you must cash out your chips and buy in to a table with higher limits. In my casino, without an invitation to the private gaming rooms the highest limit available for single numbers is $2000, so even that might not be large enough for your pile of chips??

Your book is not based on reality so why ask gamblers for advice? Just make up your own answer.
