I would have called if it was post bubble, but there is a big difference between making $409 for 6th and 0$ for 7th, and with 3 micro stacks, I went ahead and elected to fold.

Ended up in 4th with +$603

Your mistake here was not jamming preflop. As you said... Tough call for sure otf but I feel you're ahead of most of his range. Don't you think ak/aq would've 3bet you from the btn pre? And he definitely isn't playing trip 10s this aggressive(unless he's a fish... And we don't have a large enough sample to determine that).

Feels more like some weak ax or maybe even a strong draw.

Anyhow, nice cash!

 

I think those who manage a bankroll and want to cash for the hours invested, tend to play this style, as I have at times myself. Sometimes you need a cash, break a run of non-cashes, to psych you back up, whatever the reason.

However, when you entered the tournament, what were your goals?

Play the best poker you can?
Eliminate dumb mistakes?
Capitalize on other blatantly wrong decisions?
Just make it into the money?
Make it into the money, then ladder climb?
Win the damn tournament and remember exactly that feeling for the next time?

In the case above, you certainly took the conservative route assuring you the probability of a higher finish and cash, however, I'd like to say, if your mindset was to win, and you entered a hand here an doubled or tripled up, do you think that would have been enough to give you the resources to continue and win it, or just prolonged the defeat, finishing about the same.

 

this was my first thought when i looked at it he dosent have an A never 3 bet pre and if you flat out of position with a weak A then your not the kind of player to open ship post flop (are you seems fishy) if they had a 10 no idiot is betting that flop when they flat pre flop button raise that dosent make sense from any angle ever you can asume they dont have p0ockets again no raise i call there every time and id be putting the shiper on a flush draw thats the only thing that makes any sense allthough it is still a very questionable move but likely
