The Best Bet In The House Isn't Always So!

We all should know that the math of the game says the best bet in the house when you are betting box numbers are the 6 & 8. Well if that is true why is it that everybody is still losing when they are betting on them?

There has always been a lot of talk about the Santa Ana Star Casino, because they pay triple in the field on the 2 & 12 also there is no Vig on the 4 & 10. Sounds like a great game doesn't it, well I had to check it out for myself. So we stopped there on the way back from Fla. Just about everybody was betting across or doing a iron cross, those true odds on the 4 and 10 had them sucked right in. Every time a 4 or 10 was made there was no Vig and they paid double! What a sweet bets to have on a craps table is probably what you are saying to yourself, but really!

The only time a bet turns sweet is when you hit it, anytime that you don't, it was a bad bet! While I was shooting there just about everybody was betting the 4's and 10's, but they were not betting on the 9 that I was killing.

Most craps players never learn that you have to hit the number that you have your money on to get paid. This isn't horse shoes where you can be close and still win. So just because those bets pay what they should with true odds on the 4's and 10's doesn't make them a good bet!

The same thing can be said with the so-called free odds, if your shooters are not making the point that they established you now have one of the worst bets on the table.

Now my reason for stopping at this casino was very simple, there has been so much written about it over the years I wanted to see first hand how it would be to play there. As it turned out one more breath of fresh air, the crew was very friendly, there was no hassle playing there, there was never a short roll called.

Most of the players were so rapped up in those 4 and 10 bets that they couldn't see what was happening, You need shooters hitting those numbers if your going to win and guess what they weren't! The table had it's common type of buy-ins and when they lost there was more players coming in and out of the table. I only saw one guy that was setting the dice and talked to him about the so-called DI's asking him if he saw a influx of DI's hitting their table,..No was his answer! He told me that he played there all the time as he was a local and that he did manage to get on a few good rolls, but nothing to brag about! The guy had a real nice looking shot, but couldn't hit those 4's and 10's he had his chips on and he was using a set that should have giving up a bunch of 4's and 10's!

My general thoughts about playing there was that they were not losing money to any DI's or as far as that went any other players. The great bets that everybody loves to write about on this craps table, turned out just as I expected,... a gimmick type bet. That players would still be losing on.

Maybe their casino management understands that they don't have to worry about anybody beating their table by having what everybody considers a great bet! Yes,.. I did win money there and didn't stay around that long. It was a hit a run session because we were running late. You can't control when you are going to arrive when you are driving across country. I thought that they would have a hotel at the casino and they do not have one, if they did we would have stayed the night and I would have put in a very early morning session.

Unlike our great fiction writers I do post videos that show that I was there and didn't rip off a video from YouTube.

So here is my question for all of you guys ,...Would you go out of your way to play at this casino?

The reason for the players card, I'm not going back and if I did I wouldn't use it!

The best bet in the house is nowhere near a craps table.
