Usually when a new joint opens up there is a novelty factor, and lots of people just want to check out the style of the place. That novelty factor usually last for about a year or longer. So, it can't be the goods sign that the Resort Worlds is already offering heavy discounts rooms rate to get cats in the joint! Honest, I rather pay full whack to stay at the Circa than stay at Resort Worlds even with the heavy discount, hey hey.

Yeah a few things at play for Orlando, Las Vegas, other entertainment destinations that weren't a problem a couple months ago:

    1. Stimmy money all spent by now (credit card debt actually went UP during the stimmy, which points to either it wasn't enough to offset shutdown damage for those deep underwater, or, that people went apeshit spending above their means thinking big stimmy checks would always continue).

    2. Delta stories featured on every article/news show/etc, 24/7, making vacationers pause their plans (fearing things will be closed).

    3. Resorts World is pretty bland in terms of a destination experience. It's nice, but nothing that makes you crave visiting it. I would prefer Circa as well, despite the high prices.

    4. Casinos going bankrupt because everyone is playing Sox's B after PPP on the bacc tables.

...well, maybe 3 out of 4 anyway. ;)

Also, they say locations locations locations when it come to the reals estate and the Resort Worlds is in a lousy location, at least for me. I don't know how they will make that 4.3$ billions nut by giving the heavy rooms discount, hey hey.

    Yes, that as well.

You'd have to have a DYNAMITE property with a truly unique selling proposition to draw people to that part of the strip, and Resorts World while being "nice" isn't a big enough magnet to make that happen.

I think initially Genting was planning to capitalize on the heavy Asian foot traffic that LV experienced between 2012 and 2018 or so, but that's largely burned out due to the pandemic combined with stricter travel restrictions in place in mainland China now.
