I was looking over old articles from the "Crapsmen" newsletter, and there are numerous references to Tournament Craps, this is back in the 1980's. Apparently some the major casinos of the time both in Vegas and AC would hold these tournaments. There was an entry fee and a buy in limit. You held the dice up to limited amount of time or until you 7 out. The person with the most amount of money won. First place took in $65k, &75k, even $100k.2nd and 3rd place won a reduced amount, and the other finalist also won prize money. I never hear anyone mention these tournaments, so are they a thing of the past, or are they just not reportedly?

The smaller ones remain fairly prevalent. They are a great way to get a whole bunch of fairly savvy gamblers in-house and in action post tournament style. I know I worked a couple of them years back and thought them a nightmare for all employees involved, I hated working them so badly I don't work them any more. Like any tourney format, it's who has the most by games end who reap the rewards. Even very conservative bettors using their own dough at a conventional table loosen it up considerable during tourney play ...it'w just too hectic Plus I din't like to work at such a busy venue and being paid a virtually nickles and dimes...I don't want any coworkers assuming I've got the team spirit 'tude at this late date.

A few Downtown LV casinos have a Craps Clubs, The Golden Arm at the California and SharpShooter at Fremont. They also run a yearly contest for those who qualify...

25th Annual Golden Arm Tournament coming to the Cal on April 27 - 2014:
"Sixteen craps players will be handed the dice with one goal in mind – keep rolling as long as possible without “sevening out.” Participants will compete for a total of $25,000 in cash prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000 for the player with the most consecutive rolls."

Fremont Sharpshooter Club is open to anyone who rolls a hand over 25 with a minimum of a $5 passline bet,
and The Golden Arm at the California is open to anyone who shoots over an hour.

If you roll over 60 at the Fremont you get your name on a plaque on the wall. Talk about bragging rights!

In my last visit to LV, I took a photo of the Sharpshooters club

    Hey Big Ben.
Here is a fun fact: None of the names of the guys who run these Dice setting and tossing schools are on any of these walls. Not that it means anything, but it is a fact.
