I give this example from a 60 dollar NL tournament in reno...and then will extrapolate the question to WSOP main event and the like.
I buy in for Holdem NL, 8k chips plus 2k extra for 5 dollar dealer add on=10ktotal
When I sit at the table it seems some people during the week has earned a coupon for an extra 2k in free chips on top of being able to buy the 5 dollar add on=12k total to start

So the question I ask first....should the casino disclose upon the purchase of the seat that I could possibly be a short stack at the table to start. I dont feel this is fair practice for the casino to use the tournaments as a way to give "comps" to people during the week at the expense of others who buy in for the same amount. In your opinion should there be full disclosure....transparency?

Secondly.....sometimes there are players at these tournaments that somehow "win" as free seat or "earn" a free seat. I am suspicious that the casino just gives the player the seat without physically putting cash into the pot. Are there rules in nevada that controls what casinos can do with poker tournaments. Like giving out free seats or giving out extra starting chips?

Which brings me to WSOP main event. If the RIO ran drawings during the year for a free seat at the main event....do they have to physically put 10k into the pot to be split between winners....or can they just give seats and the paying customers just win less than would be expected. I am not talking about satellite games. I am talking about via table and slot play,.... earning entries into a drawing.

I stopped playing that 60 dollar tournament just on principle.I dont appreciate starting a game 20 perecent lower in chips than some other players. However more and more casinos do this crap.

does anyone agree its not right for the casino to give out free seats(unpaid for by anyone) or free chips without full disclosure as you are buying in? Using poker tournaments to increase their profits during the week by offering tournamnet comps to people at zero expense to the casino....paid for by the non- comped players who pay full value.

AND are there specific rules in nevada that overseas and regulates what casinos can and cant do with tournaments.
