Essay boy is wound up today. He she should be happy. Villanova is in Elite 8. And St Peter plays in Philly tomorrow.

Instead Jaboy is all in a tither over Mdawg...again, what else is new?

St Peter's means nothing to me. They are from north Jersey, 5 miles from NYC. Fun to watch a small school knock off a couple big teams, but otherwise nothing to me.

Nova I am invested in emotionally and a little bit financially. I am sure the KJ haters are rooting against them so they can hate on me. I don't care. They have had a fine year.

I have them @ 18-1 to win it all which they have twice in the past 6 years, 2016 and 2018. I could start hedging with today's game guaranteeing my wager wins something, but hedging the final 3 games would really eat into the winning amount, so I will just roll the dice and hope they win. If they do I can again decide about hedging next week in the final 4. If they lose, I won't have to decide.

Playing Houston in Texas? I'd hedge.

If I was worried about losing $200, which is about a quarter of my BJ max bet these days, I could hedge. It would cost about about $1000 to guarantee that I don't lose that $200, hedging all 3 games. NOT guarantee winning anything but guarantee not losing that original bet. Not worth it.

Now if they win today and get to final 4, there should be hedging opportunities to guarantee a decent win, not just preserving the small $200.

Quick note on Villanova, which I noticed a couple of weeks ago during my stat survey. They have done something I have never seen a college team do. They, as a team, shot better from the free throw line than I did during my best year. Go look up their team foul shooting. It is remarkable. If you want to know how to win close games, they have the template.

I said that to Boz privately earlier. Many of these games come down to foul shooting and Villanova is not only best in the nation this year but best percentage all-time.

I think everyone knew this would be a low scoring, ugly, defensive game but my God...ugliest basketball game I have ever seen. Plus looks like Nova lost a key player in what looks like a serious injury.

Nova basically only plays 6 players so they can't afford to lose anybody, let alone one of the top scorers.

I guess Jay Wright has 7 days to figure something out.

I would have taken the opportunity to double my money. Houston couldn't throw it in the ocean. But Villanova was clearly the better team.

Assuming heavy favorites win tomorrow, a great next Saturday 1vs 2 and a Duke vs UNC rematch.

    Kansas has a deep bench.

I don't think Villanova can beat Kansas, but Kansas has one of those triumvirate of well-paid coaches (Calipari at Kentucky, Barnes at Tenn are the other two) who are all recruiting and no game day coaching. So we'll see.

Before the game modes said to hedge vs Houston and after the game (and results known) he says I should have doubled down.

I used to have a partner That was excellent in hindsight like that. Lol

Redeitz: I have always felt simular about Bill Self. I always thought he was overrated. I can remember a few times Jay Wright knocked off a higher ranked and more talented Kansas team. So before today's game looking forward, I was thinking that with a week to prepare Nova would give Kansas a game.

The Justin Moore injury changes everything. Beside that he was a top scorer, a team that basically played a 6 man rotation lost a starter. They will have to hope no one else gets hurt or in foul trouble, plus steal a few minutes from a couple reserves that don't play much. It is now a very tall order

And even worse for me, it will cost even more to hedge since Kansas will be a bigger favorite. Maybe St Peter's can perform another miracle tomorrow and I won't have to even deal with it. Not banking on that though. Lol

My good friends have season tickets to KU. Remi Martin coming back from injury is huge. I don't think they lost a game with him healthy.

Their games are usually close. But they play tough defense and rebound down the stretch and find a way to win but not cover.

Tater says: KU plays Miami Fla tomorrow. Winner plays Villanova. St Peter's play UNC. Winner plays Duke.

Oh that's right. Well that is slightly better. I give Miami a slight chance. Better that St Peter's. Lol

Miami gave Duke thunder in the ACC tournament. Duke pulled it out 70-67.

Either way, for Nova to win another title, they probably have to beat Kansas and then Duke, now while shorthanded missing a key player.

That is not going to happen now. I will of course be rooting for them, but exploring every possible hedging option to now maximize my return.

When you make a prop wager on a team to win it all, @ odds of 18-1 or 20-1 or even longer, whether March madness of NBA or nfl all you really want is for them to get to the final 4 or conference finals where you have hedging opportunities. I guess I am lucky the Justin Moore injury didn't happen earlier or last game and at least I have that opportunity.

We will see who wins tomorrow and what the hedging opportunities (money lines) are next week, but at this point I should be able to guarantee a win of $1000 or so off my $200 bet. That is all you can ask for.

Who? The dude that looks like Jim Boeheim? Lol. Never heard of that guy until this year.

We'll see what happens tomorrow and go from there.

I'll tell you, anybody that likes upsets and underdogs and teams getting points has had a enjoyable march madness this year including a few huge upsets.

He was the Coach at George Mason in 2006 when they were a Cinderella team. The beat #1 seed UConn in the Elite 8 and lost to the Champ Florida in the Final Four. I think he won an NIT champ with a team that was first 4 out in NCAA.

A good coach. But not a big name.
