Forex Where has the volatility gone?

I've only been trading for 6-8 months but in the last few months I've noticed the market go flat... I was talking to a broker today and he made out like I was silly and that I didn't know anything. Is it just my inexperience or has the market really gone flat? if it has can anyone explain why?? is it just a usual thing that happens at this time of the year?
