I don't know if he is a troll or not. It seems to me a troll would get right back to work. His absence suggests that he was just asking an honest question.
The idiots who suggest that he could have found his answer by researching it first are hypocrites . That could be said for any question on any topic. After all these years I am sure there isn't any topic that hasn't been addressed.

Seems like he behaved like any customer with self respect would act when management of a business treats him like garbage.
And also I admire and agree with your view of taking a depressant drug (alcohol) when gambling will negatively impact results and should be completely avoided when gambling

I suspect BBB is irked more by the virulence of the personal attacks than by the criticism of her actions as a moderator.

Criticizing someone because of their physical appearance as opposed to their posts and actions as a moderator is both juvenile and in poor form.

We are all physically and emotionally imperfect in one way or another; that should be a given, and not a valid issue for criticism on these boards.

Ideally we should focus on actions and posts, not physical appearance.

 

Just for fun, I decided to take a look at Larry's numbers. Using the "Wayback machine" website I compared some data from April/May 2014 vs today. Since wayback machine take a snapshot of time the trick was to find some days to look at near the end of the day. I found 5 days where the "snapshot" was taken at 10pm or later (near end of day). Member visits on those 5 days were 301, 280, 312, 304 and 281. That is an average of 296, with potential for a few more visits each day because some of the snapshots still had up to 2 hours remaining. So I think it is fair to say an average of 300 member visits per day.

Currently the average is in the 200 to 210 range most days. So that is a 30-33% decrease in traffic.....for whatever reason.

Mike can say what he like, but he is a numbers guy and these numbers don't lie. SOMETHING is turning off people to the site, whether that be over moderation, or deemed unfair treatment of respected members, cronyism, or just the general unwelcoming attitude of "If you don't like it, don't let the door hit you in the ass".

Again, the numbers don't lie......WoV is a site on the decline. Mike obviously doesn't care....he has already had his payday. But you would think the Latest Casino Bonus folks, Josh and Zuga would be concerned about a 33% loss in traffic and the policies and attitude of those running the site that are directly leading to that.

I suspect if I checked the numbers for Qfit's (norm Wattenberger) blackjack site, I would find similar results. As I said earlier these guys that run these gambling/AP related sites, seem to lose sight that it is the AP's that participate that are the big value to the site. Not to generalize, but these kind of nerdy, numbers, math geek, type guys, that both Shackleford and Wattenberger are, are always lacking in people skills.

 

Sometimes physical descriptions are necessary for clarity. The tall man...the short woman...the blonde. It's not always to "irk" someone.

I am going to offer a criticism that I know is not going to be well received here. I wish some of you guys would "lighten up" on the personal attacks. While I am not familiar with everyone here's case or specific circumstances involving WoV, there are some legitimate criticism to be voiced of how different things are/were handled and getting in the gutter just sort of diminishes those legitimate points.

I get that many of you are frustrated and even hurt, as I am, and feel very disrespected about your treatment at WoV by Mike and other mods. It's easy, and probably natural, to immediately attack in a personal way. I have done that at times myself. But that is not really my purpose. My purpose is to discuss such treatment and incidents, not that Mike or anyone else is interested in discussion as apparent by Mike, NEVER responding to concerns by any members in the "discussion of suspension list" thread, which apparently is NOT for discussing the suspension list. He doesn't even show anyone, even current members, the respect of addressing their concerns.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not looking for some sort of resolution that would allow me to return to WoV. I am over that. My own purpose is too try to emphasize to Mike, how unprofessional his decision was to ban a 4 year contributing member with 3200 posts, not to pat myself on the back, but based on ongoing comments, a pretty respected member, because a friend of his, who isn't even a real member of the site asked him to. Good grief!!!

Funny thing, privately Mike said, he wished he was never put in this position, but he alone placed himself in the middle. I never asked him to choose sides. I never asked him to ban someone else because I didn't like what they were saying. I never asked him, to enforce some phony "truce" to limit or squash someone else's opinion. He chose to take sides and be most unprofessional.

 

That's a 2 way street. In the real world very few people are punished for life no matter what they did.

So how about if THEY lighten up? How about if THEY review all suspensions with fresh eyes and honestly ask themselves why? How about if THEY contact banned members and ask them to hear their side? Didn't think so. How about if THEY let those with minor infractions back...though I have no idea why they would want to.

Personal insults? Boo freakin hoo. It's all about power and control. The sick, twisted people that run that site want their rules to apply to all sites and when they can't get their own way.....well they're not used to that.

I can call the President of the United States any name in the book...to his face and it's not a crime as long as I don't threaten. Why do the misfits at WOV think they're so special?

 

What is really interesting, and speaks volumes, is the fact that after KewlJ was properly vetted here, no one there has addressed his legitimate complaints. More today. It devolves into talking about "gay cars" and such.

True, DeMango. And I thank you for expressing that thought. First reaction over was to say well that's not really him, posting. So I went out of my way, emailed a handful of members that I have email addresses of, as well as posted here assuring that it was me. And then it just kind of fizzled.

To be honest, I was hoping it might lead to a more productive discussion over there, in which Mike might decide to explain his actions, but it didn't. My goal is not to get people to take sides. I know most have great admiration for Mike. I am not trying to get anyone to side against him, but I was hoping that he might feel compelled to explain his actions, since his explanations in private have been very weak and unsatisfying to say the least. I suspect many are afraid to say too much in light of way things like that get handled.

 

A confident, well adjusted, normal adult would be more than happy to explain himself. He'd insist on it. They are always harping on transparency over there....it's just another one of their lies.

Wizardofnothing, it was shameful the way you guys treated Darkoz over the Plaza Tax Day Promotion. All he did was put up the same information that the Plaza had put up on their website. Hell, the Plaza would have thanked Darkoz for getting that information further out into the public. Darkoz said absolutely nothing about strategy. That was all done by Shack. Shack is the one responsible for the $5 video poker being disqualified when he put up all the information on how to beat the promotion. But what do all the teacher's pets on WoV do? They gave Shack a pass and jumped all over Darkoz. Of course, we all know how WoV is. You have to kiss Shack's ass if you want to keep kissing his ass. You can't very well kiss Shack's ass anymore if you criticize him for his actions and he nukes you. So you posey sniffing swines jump all over Darkoz. You made him your punching bag. Get out of here. You actually are wrong about that I was out at lunch with wiz and told him he was wrong and I didn't agree with it- he actually missed the play himself because of it - but I spoke my mind. My issue with dark oz- which has since been resolved between myself and him is that he would not have posted that info if it was a play he was going to partake in- that was my only beef
