You have a history of calling out BS, and a pretty good track record, but I believe you may be wrong on this one. I have known him (online only) for several years and I believe him to be a young blackjack enthusiast. And yes, cocky and arrogant at times. As I said, I see a little bit of myself (from a decade ago) in that I have witnessed him ask questions or make statements that he wants to be true and when some one of the experienced players sets him straight, he argues with them because it is not what he wanted to hear. But then given a little time, I have seen him accept their wisdom or advise.

But whether it turns out you are right or I am right is irrelevant. If not him, there are probably other young aspiring AP's, whether card counters or machine or whatever reading or may read the thread in the future and most of the advice and comments are just crap and most of them from people not qualified to even comment.

You and I and every other AP (whether card counter or whatever) took a chance when we followed our dream. Some succeeded to various degrees and some fanned out, but all of us took a chance not really knowing whether it would pan out. Most of the responses in that thread seemed like they were a father reacting to a son saying he wanted to take his shot at his dream. Responses of go back to school, get a "real job/career". The guy wasn't asking for that. He wasn't asking permission or if anyone thought it was a good idea. Just as you or I didn't. We followed our dream, when others around us were telling us it wasn't realistic. I know that was my case and I'll bet it was your (and most other AP's). Friends and family were telling you it couldn't be done.

So the guy wasn't asking for permission or who thought it was a good idea. He was asking to hear from some of the few of us that actually went this route and followed our dream. But he got answers and comments (bad answers and comments) from people who have no idea what it means to take your shot at flowing your dreams.

And then getting into specifics, people telling him housing costs of $1200, $1500 a month ect. The guys looking to go on the cheap, just as most of us did at the beginning. In card counting this is ultra important because top priority has to be building your bankroll. $50K is a decent starting point, but to play professionally you need to build a BR of 100K. That will allow you to survive all the swings and variance without any mental angst. When I got started I lived as cheap as I could. I literally lived off of mac & cheese and peanut butter sandwiches (didn't like jelly) for a couple years while I began to built my bankroll.

That thread was just full of crappy answers and comments by people who had no right to comment. And it got worse as people then began to attack him because they didn't like his attitude or were offended by his 'cockiness'.

BTW, you, Axel, were one of the few that offered good advice (and was qualified). When you said he should hookup (non-sexual definition) with an experienced player or players upon arriving. That is the type of advice he should have gotten more of....not all that other crap. And not all those "judgments" because people didn't care for his attitude or cockiness.

If you remember, manboy is the one who claims to have called the FBI because someone on the internet hurt his feelings. I can only imagine what he'll do with that Christmas card. File stalking charges? Have it fingerprinted? DNA check? I don't get it...sending a card after manboy has said you are one of two people who will NEVER be allowed back no matter what. I wonder if KewlJ sent cards to all the people that have banned him from their forums. Oops, am I speculating again.

Freddy why are YOU trying to start trouble? While I continue to believe that Mike's handling of my situation was very unfair and unprofessional, I do accept that some of my comments and handling of things in the aftermath (on this site), might have 'edged' over the line :D of good taste and maturity and I wanted to acknowledge that to Mike.

No I didn't send a Christmas card to Norm, if that's who you are referring to. I did think seriously about sending an email to Norm, expressing some of that sentiment and wishing him well in the new year, but the last time I sent an email he filed a report with Yahoo mail and threatened to sue me. So I choose not to. Norm has been involved with feuds with many, many people in the community dating back far before my involvement in the community. He is like Larry in that he thrives on feuds and confrontation, so I chose not bother with him. I have given up on him.

But Mike is a little different in my book, even after all that has happened. I don't believe Mike set out to get involved like he did. I think he was "played" by Norm, who used Mike. And Mike jumped in where he shouldn't have. Maybe I am still giving him too much credit but I honesty believe, he just didn't know how to save face once he injected himself into the situation. It appears he is not very good at admitting when he is wrong. But regardless, I wanted him to know my feelings.

the "we" have the ability to avoid my posts.......dont they?

if the "we" keeps allowing themselves to get angered by my posts....they are sick sick people to continually put themselves through that angst.

are you that sick that you would allow yourself to devolve into an angered hate filled bitter person by continually reading material that you dislike

He complains specifically about the term beached whale.
Lets look at that. Lets look at how some prominent women at wov use screen names to elicit sexual images

Juicey Jenny...........nuff said regarding sexual imagery
    Hot Blonde......... blatant sexual imagery
BeachbumBABS.....again non gambling related, sexual imagery of a woman on the beach......swimsuit imagery

So when people do take-offs ....like calling hot blonde.....fat blonde.....well arent they putting themselves in that position. Women want to be viewed as equal to men, but in these cases..they want to separate themselves from men...and make sure everyone knows they possess a vagina, hang out at the beach, are juicey, and hot.

ok....sometimes that works and sometimes that backfires.

in the case of BBB it seems to have backfired. Its the chance they take.

she could have just as easily used a screen name......gamblergal, or blackjackbarb, or damedeveloper...if se wanted people to know she possessed a vagina.

but instead she put herself n the category of jennie and blonde......with sexual imagery.

Be honest....can you imagine the field day people at wov would have if after a while JJ had someone post for the first time an unwanted pic of herself..and it wasnt anything like people pictured..........she would go through some tough sledding over there.

so sometimes people help to bring things on themselves. Coming to a site and saying in your screen name...I am a woman and I love the beach.....that is made to attract interest.......and lets face it,...not interest from other women.

So a take off on it is often well deserved.

And the nickname used here can in some ways sometimes explain her behavior......being as quick to punish as she is.

    Exactly correct Larry.

And her posts would imply she had the body and face to match her screen name.

Until this pic revealed she is one of the ugliest, most disgusting tub-of-shit imaginable.

imagine a man on a board that had 99 percent women.... with the name endowedjonny, or surferjohnny, or hot-abs-sjohnny, beachloverjohn,

and it was a site of fans of Julio Iglesias......and he was a 50 year old 300 lb man

good luck when your pic gets taken at a concert get together with the girls.

again...you put yourself in"situations" ..and sometimes its not surprising what occurs

The Cambridge dictionary defines "beach bum" as: "someone who spends most of his or her time having a good time on the beach."

That term can apply as equally to an 18 year old, bikini-clad sun worshiper as to an older, heavy-set person with a metal detector, fishing pole, or beach blanket and book.

Her assumed name, at least to me, no more implies the first than the other.

    OK, carry on.

technically you are right, just as the same dictionary can give the definition of "hot" to be a warm feeling having nothing to do with sexuality.
So "hotblonde' is just making a statement that she doesnt have air conditioning......according to your dictionary

    take off the blinders.

there are women in the company of alot of men online who like to tease and get attention using the images of their sex(in the minds of men)....some try to do it with their screen name...implanting those images using screen names
And the imagery of a "hot" blonde, or a female named "babs" "having a good time on the beach".......seems to be something men dont seem to engage in here or on wov when devising their screen name.
But plenty give attention to women who do.....and THATS the incentive for those names. Purely for attention.

I like to go to craft shows with my wife..but I dont go to message boards for gambling and call myself craftshowlarS.......NO ONE FUCKING CARES IF i LIKE TO GO TO THE BEACH OR IF I GO TO CRAFT SHOWS.

Let's lighten the mood and take the WOV way back machine to July 2012 and a thread titled "What Physical Part of a Woman Are YOU attracted to?"

Which disturbed name in green made the following statement?

"The few times a woman has gotten my antennae twitching it has been grey/green/blue eyes with a certain look to them".

Was it a) manboy, b) Beached Whale or c) Mission/Pavlov/ Brandon James etc etc etc?

The correct answer is b. Raise your hand if you got it.

Beached Whale then posted this gem. Those of you back east may want to finish your supper before continuing.

"But since I like men, large, strong hands, with well defined forearms gets me shivery....Something in my brain tilts and I'm suddenly imagining what those hands can do".

And what would that be? Shoot himself? UPS will be there soon wit the batteries, Whale. Will you be answering the door naked again?

I love that thread because it proves my contention that people follow the leader...and the leader objectifies women as body parts and scenery for his posted pictures..or his report on prostitution(which I am told he was convinced to remove)......and folks follow by creating that type of thread.
And beached whale chimes in with the objectification.

the reducing of fat from womens body parts.....well BBB is not a fan of that. She has her limits and wont participate in the Hot Blonde objectification.

but all in all......its so fine to put on the smoking jacket and have a high class discussion.

say what you want about the freedom here....even with that freedom....we will never approach the sleaze factor that exists over there/

I don't think that her name had anything with what you were suggesting. I believe its because she is from Florida and spend a significant time on the beach.

I get why calling yourself hot blonde might get some negative remarks and be a call for attention(I'm not saying that's why she made the name). If I was a girl I don't know that I would name myself a Hot blond unless I was dam sure I was smoking hot.

Anyways BBB is a far cry from an attention getting name. Its just a name of a scene or way of life she might admire, have done, wanted to do. I don't think it would be any different than the names flowerchild, hippiechick, sororitygirl, surfergirl.

when you go to a website full of men, and present a screen name that involves female and the beach......to you females and the beach brings the image of grandma playing with her grandchildren. But that would NOT be the imagery most men would embrace.
especially the typeof men that read up on prostitution and massage parlor and favorite womans body part entries on wov.
