Misc WizardOfVegas Forum is Dying

I can appreciate your good intent. I like that there is the freedom to really express one self and maybe even get a little carried away in the heat of the moment. That works great for Mickey Crimm , as well as some of us hotheads.

But there is a difference in allowing a little extra latitude as part of an organized discussion (to use your words) and just allowing someone to attack another member on the basis of race or sexual orientation or something that is, and never was part of any organized discussion. Especially a guy that goes out of his way to state that is his intention. Personally, I think your lack of action is well lacking in such a case.

When I came here and suggested that I wouldn't be here long, that I just wanted to make my case and move on because "this wasn't my cup of tea", I received a private message from an administrator (not sure if there is more than one), encouraging me to stick around and participate. Some of the members also encouraged that of me. And so I have. Posted in the 'sleepy' blackjack section today, among other things. But really if someone is going to be allowed to just gay bash me at will, over and over and over, with comments having nothing to do with whatever the topic of discussion is, why would I or anyone stay and subject themselves to that??

I mean suppose I don't like someone, lets say posterXX. So every time poster XX responds about any topic what so ever, I respond "fuck you posterXX, you asshole, child molester". You don't think maybe that's just a little too much latitude?

using crude humor with "beached whale" and "manboy" in the midst of a debate is one thing...................but the same member just sayin "Fuck you" after "fuck you" after "fuck you" over & over and nothing else starts getting ridiculus........

I hope the Admin is taking notic.............does anyone really think a bunch of Fuck You's bakc & forth are good for this site???

I agree............I don't know why the Admin allows his valued members to be harrassed continuously by the same member Over & over
first larry was getting harrassed and now kewlj is getting harrassed

uncensored is one thing.....................harrassment is completely diffrent.............

say what you want.......some of us may be guilty of crude humor here but we've NEVER NEVER NEVER harrassed anyone.......

and it's the same 2members who continue to harrass other members without repercussion
they even follow their targets around for the purpos of harrassment.......................

That was the point I tried to make earlier. It is one thing to be critical of a site being over-moderated, like occurs at WoV. But the remedy is not to have a completely uncensored site. There has to be some sort of happy medium...some structure....some rules that allow the site to function and grow.

I mean if this site want to grow into something more that a shadow site of WoV, where the majority of posts are criticsisms of WoV and grow into something representative of the name of the site... a gambling forum, there has to be some structure, some moderating, something to stop people like this asshole from doing nothing but hijacking, attacking and driving people away, both those that participate and those that pop in and are immediately turned off.

If you want to see what happens when a site has zero moderating, zero censorship, pop into Zenzone.com. They are down to like one poster that posting several times a day. Just sitting there talking to himself about conspiracy theories.

This site is at a crossroads IMO. It can go the way of zenzone or take advantage of some AP's and other gambling folks that currently find themselves without a home and maybe build a site with discussion representative of the name. Uncensored and less moderating is great for posts that are on topic, but if you make the policy, uncensored with absolutely no rules, you deteriorate into a free-for all, an example that we just saw. And thank you to the closet queen in love with me, that helped me make that case.

 

My wife just laughed. She can hook you up as long as you have a 5k retainer.. and are prepared to be dissapointed. Revenge through the legal system is a dish that often never gets delivered to your table after you paid for it upfront

 

Wizard does read this site and threads, because he, much like Norm must know everything said about him. lol. However, I shared this with Mike, when we were having discussions. Not in a threatening way. Just wanted him to know how important it was to me.

As for the monetary damages, there were numbers floated around during the consultation with the attorney. However, money was not a motive for me. If I had pursued and was fortunate enough to have won, I would have donated any money gained to some charity or charities. But we are getting way ahead of ourselves and off course.

 

You can just ask me lol. I'm pretty open unless the answers involves explicit, sensitive, or revealing info from private communication with another member.

No talk. After closing the "Predator" thread, one member, a total unknown to me, advised that LSH was here on GF, which I already knew. Previous to that, my last communication about managerial things was ~330 days ago, and that just asked for my opinion on a matter. Any action or inaction following my name is pretty much 100% Face, albeit influenced by the rules I must uphold.

 

Big coup for WoV. Bob Dancer just joined. The wannabes are in awe and are treading lightly. He's got their attention but they're not saying much. Dancer did say that he doesn't vulture or steal credits left behind. No comment from the wannabes on that.

How does manboy know it's really Dancer? Probably because of all the begging he did to get Dancer to finally join. It's not like Dancer just found out about the site. He had manboy on his radio show many times. Why didn't Dance join before? Why now?

Manboy has already warned everyone that "Dancer bashing is now against the rules". Too funny. Maybe after seeing that Alan M bashing was encouraged by manboy and his merry misfits, Dancer was leery about joining. Maybe he was given special consideration. Let's see if anyone has the guts to challenge anything Dancer says...let alone disagree with him. After all...disagreement leads directly to a ban if you dare to speak up....dare to be on the "wrong" side of things on that toxic board.

I enjoy reading Dancer and I'm able to do that without nitpicking every little thing he says. Some think he's great...others have called him a fraud or worse. Still good reading.

He used to write some good stuff, IMO, in the past. Not so much anymore....at least on his LVA blog [not sure if he writes anywhere else]. Still read them every week....but it's usually the same ol' shit I don't really care about, like analyzing UX, QQ, or some bizarre hold that's worth $0.50/hour on NSUD because he wants to get that extra 0.1%. IMO -- if you're worrying about 0.1%, whatever you're playing isn't worth while or good enough to play. But then again, it's probably difficult to come up with new content.

I wouldn't call him a fraud....maybe a rat, but not a fraud. Although, I think he definitely misleads people into thinking they have to make the best EV choice every time. I haven't read all of his articles, but I don't remember him ever writing one about "EV vs variance/risk/bankroll" and saying sometimes taking a lower EV with less risk is superior to greater EV with much more risk.

 

I learned a lot from Dancer's writing. Having said that, I have some enormous issues with him currently.

(1) I think he owes it to people to explain that the heyday of video poker is long gone, so as to provide context.

(2) He definitely owes it to people to explain that his current player statuses, which new players will not be able to copy, are crucial to winning. Cash back rates and promos, unavailable to all but a handful of players, are the difference between winning and losing.

(3) His income is derived from both sides of the fence.

(4) If you read his "Million Dollar Video Poker," there are holes. Plus his ex-wife actually won the key and biggest jackpot.

If criticizing Dancer is a no-go at WoV, why would anyone post there? You seem to be getting skewed info if there are these kinds of edits. Academic journals would never disallow criticism because it's "uncool."

 

It would be nice it someone asks him once and for all what was his involvement with advising Revel casino leading up to the "You can't lose" promo. Widely thought to have tipped them off to flaws and AP opportunities with the promo. If guilty it shows he does what is best for him, if innocent I assume he would want to clear his name.

 

Boz, you've gotta be kidding. If you've read Dancer's columns through the years and followed his personal relationships, it's pretty clear everybody gets thrown under the bus.

I'm no fan of this overblown use of the word "community," but the idea that Dancer concerns himself with other players is way, way overly optimistic.

It just occurred to me that I'm old and have a 20-year perspective on Dancer, so that may explain my shock at the naivete concerning him.

 

Oh I have a good idea of what happened with Revel, but my point was more about is anyone over there going to have the balls to ask him about it? He has never addressed it publicly as far as I know.
