Meanwhile someone asked me about gambling addiction and I wrote back this:

" How can you tell if you’re addicted to gambling or you just really enjoy it?

You start to get that feeling that you get when you no longer care if you lose while driving or riding to the casino to gamble again. It might start just as you pull up or even ten minutes before you reach the parking lot or entrance.

You have been working on a system that looks like it will work this time. It’s based on something that you didn’t do last time. You knew that you were going to quit while your were ahead but didn’t. But this time you are going to quit while you are ahead, if you make enough to change your life that is.

Last but not least. You are addicted to gambling and you really enjoy it. This is worth all the pain and stress it causes you. Not to mention anyone else still in your life.

Or, “these are not the droids that you are looking for.” If you only had Jedi powers."

Someone else asked me a question just the other day and I wrote back this:

" Is it possible to actually make money in a casino with basic strategy where applicable (no advantage play) and not get thrown out in the long run?

Most people give themselves permission to lose under the excuse that it’s just entertainment. They believe the lie that the slight percentage advantage that the casino has means that they will lose anyway. But that is not why they lose. That logic would suggest that if you play 100 hands of Blackjack at $10 per hand you will have invested $1,000 in that activity where you would lose about $50 for your evening’s pleasure at a 5% casino average advantage. But average casino earnings reports for yearly income of corporations show that table games make a 15% to 22% take from players in their yearly earnings reports to stockholders. So it’s something else that works against most gamblers.

So to answer your question, the player must do something different than the use of their time being spent as entertainment. They must play to win. If the games followed a strict line of the average win to loss ratio on each trial, be it hand played, spin at Roulette, or dice thrown, then a simple math formula or progression would destroy the casino’s profitability. But that can’t be used because of statistical variance. What happens is that you get win/loss waves that slowly grind downward to the point that these up and down waves fall below the break even point. People want you to believe that you must always fall below the break even point. But the truth is that you can quit while you are ahead, earlier on when you play, long before ever falling irreversibly below that eventual break even point. This is called a “stop win” method of money management.

You can also add a very old axiom beyond “quit while you are ahead” and that is to bet larger during the up wave movements and bet smaller during the down wave movements in the variance. This method takes awareness of the gambling session’s ups and downs into account where your goal is to win the actual session.

You can also try magical thinking, wishing that you can win. You won’t win but you can enjoy pretending that you will win. Lots of players start with this tactic. They are progression players. It works well until it blows up in your face. It’s an absolute blast until it wipes out your bankroll. I’ve seen people quit their jobs over these very lame progression tactics. It’s not worth that much fun. You can go on a three month win streak and still lose it all in one session. The casino table limits prevent progressions from working. "

Two weeks ago I was asked another question that I answered this way:

" What is the first thing you look for when you enter a casino, and why?

You should look within yourself to see if you are excited to gamble, if you have a predetermined system to try that you think will work this time, and if you are actually going to play to win. Most chronic players start with these three things never figured out beforehand. Some think that luck will be with them this time just because they have arrived.

It does not work that way. Lucky streaks come in phases of bad luck / good luck. Your only chance is to take advantage of these phases and these timings. If you are playing a blind progression then phases never come into the picture and so losing your bankroll is your plan. So the first thing you should look for is if you plan to win or lose. If you plan to use the machines over the years then your plan is to lose. Even if you win a small jackpot you will feed it back into the machines in little time.

The first thing you should look for is if you are a winner or a loser. Most gamblers are losers, specially the ones that tell you that they won a jackpot every once in a while. So look at your intentions, your skill, and your goal first. And try not to lie to yourself that losing is fun."

Still hanging in there with more sophistry I see.

Much more than millions have flocked to the casinos since 1962 when he first published a real best seller. The story is that for about 4 years the pit bosses went nuts. But then they discovered that most people that attempt to count cards are not exactly good at it or experienced at gambling. So they let people try. They only restrict anyone that is good at it. That is true to this day. You look like a dope again. But who cares? You have books to sell and impressions to make. I like your dog-shit works. There will not be millions ever following your trail.

There you go. I just gave you more attention to keep your posts at the top. And I like my own creative writing regarding Cloud Pussy. So it's just making fun of a name. Buyer Beware.

Two weeks ago I answered someone this way:

" Are casinos not damaging to individuals genetically predisposed to gambling? Why allow them since they serve no benefit to society?

Control Freaks, people that are genetically predisposed to control other people’s lives. When do we shut them down? Let’s outlaw extreme sports too. For that matter let’s sabotage brain washing and safe spaces for snowflakes. While we are at it let’s take the majority of liberal educators out of their monopoly on teaching. No more brain washing kids. Just look what they have produced. They serve no benefit to society. Cancel the cancel culture.

Does that feed your needs? "

Last May I was asked this and this is my answer:

" What law explains why casinos will always make money in the long run?

There is no law like that. They are a business just like any business. They go broke all the time. It’s a fine balancing act with all those overhead expenses. There is a folklore belief that casinos will always take in more than the players because of a slight mathematical advantage. But since casinos have become publicly traded they have been publishing their actual earnings from their table games. These games have a slight 1.8% to 5.4% advantage. But the reports show that casinos tend to take 18% to 22% annually in earnings from these activities. Even with a bigger advantage, human nature, greed, fear, ignorance, etc… casinos still go broke at times. "

Also last May I was requested to answer this question:

" From a psychological perspective, are all addictions treated the same; for instance, would a food addiction be treated the same as a video game addiction or a gambling addiction to name a few examples?

Nobody in the treatment side ever bothers to get answers to all this from a professional gambler’s perspective. I acknowledge that Gambling Addiction is listed in the DSM-5 as a behavioral addiction. It was not called an addiction in the DSM-4. Sure the chemical reaction does take place in the mind. But something takes place just before that happens. The “problem gambler” makes a decision and forms a conclusion that is the actual cause. This might sound simplistic. But as a professional gambler I know this by spending so much time around losers. I never read a book on treating gambling addiction that included an in depth discussion on “magical thinking.” Most writers just mention it and then move on. They attempt to validate their conclusions by regurgitating the odds of winning.

You should know that you will never have much of a chance if you try to use the odds to beat a casino. There is no reason that a treatment plan should include this knowledge because it takes a skilled player to beat a casino at their own game. If the secret to beating a casino were widely known then the casinos and the therapists would be out of the gambling business. There would not be very many gambling addicts if they knew how to win. Sure there would be the dreamers that throw money into slot machines in hope of hitting a jackpot, or lottery players. But if they were educated properly they would not cling to magical thinking.

When it comes to games of chance there is only one skill to be an expert at. The professional player knows that ups and downs come in waves. People that trade stocks on the stock market know this. To beat a casino you must play smart to the waves that are occurring. There is no treatment plan that includes teaching this to the point of overcoming magical thinking. It’s so easy to teach and to get to the bottom of the magical thinking process that is at the heart of the problem. People are addicted to the dream that this activity will change their lives. Only wishful thinking is as far as they have gotten and that tactic is killing them. Treat the magical thinking with real tangible skill development. Oh yeah, don’t gamble until you know you have mastered surfing those waves."

More than a year ago I was asked this:

" What is the riskiest form of gambling by statistics?

That one is simple. When you walk into the door of any casino and you have no plan to win. That alone means that you have already planned to lose. For the price of your bankroll you can dream. That will not help you though. You have already lost because you don’t have a set of skills that will allow you to win. So the greatest risk is in doing an activity that you are not prepared to succeed at. There are ways to succeed though. Professional gamblers have ways. The best place to start losing with a significant degree of a “lack of skill” are the slot machines."

Here's another question for me and my answer was:

"How do I overcome my gambling addiction? "

Most important of all stop placing bets on games that don’t allow you to wait for win streaks. These are games like slot machines. There is no such thing as a win streak in slots. You are stuck to paying in to get a mathematically edged against you result.

Now this doesn’t mean that you can’t turn the tables on a casino. In fact it’s the table games where you can take control. Most people, about 99.99% of all people that gamble, do so in order to lose. They know how much they are willing to lose and they have good enough judgment to stick to those limitations, all in the name of entertainment costs.

So how do you learn to only place your bigger bets when you are in a win streak? That is the question and skill set that you want to add to your techniques. Until you can effectively do that you should never gamble in any casino again. That includes online gambling as well. You can set out to learn this and still have an interest in gambling. You just will stop throwing your money away while you learn it. If you don’t chose to learn it then you will blindly throw all your gambling money away, and most likely money needed for others things that you need to exist.

You can learn how painful and destructive this will be to you the hard way. But it will be 100% your fault if you reject gaining the skill you need to win. That skill begins with self control of the game and your willingness to observe the current conditions of the game you are playing. Once again, these are games where you can control how much you pay or not pay during a win streak. It’s possible to pay next to nothing during flat times or strong or weak losing streaks. But that is a skill you must become an expert at.

It no longer becomes an excuse to entertain yourself or to plan to lose every time you chose to gamble. It now becomes work, hard work if you really want it. But if you don’t do that work then you will end up seeing yourself as an idiot. So you have two choices now. Keep your technique as an idiot or do the work and gain the skill to change everything.

I know this first hand because I went from an idiot to a skilled player the hard work way. I learned everything in and out of the casinos. It is completely possible to become an expert at this before you ever place any more money on the table. If you do this first and are still an addicted gambler after that then you need to find personality assistance. You have self control issues that are not the primary cause of the failure during gambling.

I answered this question this way:

" Have you ever witnessed somebody losing all of their winnings after a lucky streak at the casino?

It’s such a simple thing to get around. Yet it happens all day long. It’s basic simple greed. People want more. But what these people do, that give it all back, is they keep betting the big bets that got them the win in the first place while in losing streaks. Most even chance games tend to move along in waves. It’s up for a while then down for a while. These people being driven by greed just blast right thru the losing streaks expecting things to turn around. So at some point they reach the end of their bankroll before the casino reaches theirs. And it could all be avoided by admitting that there are down turn patches that should be handled differently. You can’t avoid the losing streaks. You just have to pay much less when they occur. You decide how much to bet. It’s sort of funny how people don’t know this. We are smart enough to not go running wild in an eight lane freeway at rush hour. But some of us are not smart enough to know that gambling is just a coincidence of ups and downs."

Here is another question from someone and the answer:

" Can a gambling addiction be a psychological issue? How can I convince myself that I am not going to hit it big 1 day?

You can do the one thing that works. Stop betting any money until you can prove to yourself that you are a winner. You do this with practice sessions using simulations. If your game of choice is slot machines then you need to understand that game with regards to payoffs and odds. If you want to beat the casino using logic then you must find a way to beat the situations. You can’t bet the same amount on every bet and expect to beat the odds. So don’t do that in your skill training. Become a skilled player that knows when to bet bigger and when to bet smaller. And last but not least don’t waste your time on progressions. That is chasing your lost money.

Once you can win outside the casino then you will have the answer to your question."

I found another question and answer:

" Is there any algorithm for electronic roulette in casinos?

Yes, All you have to do is lookup the patents on them. They are listed as slot machines and actually claim that they can control the payoff percentages. They have targeting algorithms that have nothing to do with a fair randomness. Don’t believe me? Look it up for yourselves. There are patents that disclose this capability. They even have progressive Roulette slots that pay off in groups of machines. Here is some more information for you. The airball machines that run without a dealer and have player consoles, these have mechanisms that slow the wheel after the bets are called as “no more bets.” These are designed to kill off wheel clockers and dealer signature experts. But that same computer telemetry can be used to target any player that they want too. And they are listed as slots too and have guaranteed payouts. That’s at the patent office too."

Here was a quickly answered comment:

" What's the best free tipping site for betting?

You will like this answer. I recommend standing on one foot on the edge of the Grand Canyon. Then lean towards the canyon.
If that ain't betting nothing is."

    One more:

"How do I cope with my dad's gambling addiction? Honestly, I'm a stressor on my dad so I probably trigger his gambling habits. I guess I could work on that (keeping the bathroom dry and getting a job and moving towards independence).

It’s very simple. Have him show you what his winning strategy is in a safe setting. Most gambling addiction therapists don’t know how to do this or to even go there. They would rather perpetuate the lie that because the odds are against you then you can’t win, so why even try. At that point they have just taken a dump on their clients and don’t even know it. The client has just determined that the therapist is full of BS. It is possible to win most the time and to be a professional gambler. There are no professional slot players. The best they ever do is to confirm a state of confirmation bias until the long run odds catch up with them. If your Dad is addicted to slot machines then I feel sorry for you.

Now as far as showing you in a safe environment goes you can get software for card games, dice ,and Roulette. You can also play at home for free with these simulations. You can even play the horses, sporting events, and stocks for free. Just have him make the bets before time at home and check to see if he would have won. He should not gamble anymore until he can verify his winning methods. It only takes a few weeks to find out if he is just lying to himself. Course this method takes guts. He might just resist it. But you can call bullshit on him if he refuses. Just don’t get yourself killed. He can learn to be a professional gambler without going to the casino and spending even a solitary dime. Once he proves that to himself he will no longer be a “problem gambler.”

Even my up and pull approach I have changed to a more forceful and simplified tactic at the beginning of a series .

This eliminates a lengthy stay at the table and less vulnerable .

It took me a long time to get up and leave after that first net 3 win high point. It can happen fast sometimes. But that 3 net win is more than enough to take plenty off the casinos. You know I would play for that killer diller super win streaks and stay and allow myself to descend deep in order to get to that point. So now I protect myself and get that win and then gone. I either use the (1, 2 ), the (2, 1 ) or the (1, 1, 1 ) to get there. I know that you know what this means. ( JP )

Hey I’m totally agreements, if you bother to check I was actually the first one to tell him not to promote a book, stop hijacking that thread “I constantly beat baccarat “” by play2win guy. Told him he’s acting like that character out of world police movie that just says I’m Matt Damon, I’m Matt Damon.
My point is like to say is he maybe all of the above, but bullying and name calling don’t work but neither of you can see that

My point to you both is that you actually have good shit to say but you screw up any value you both have to offer because you ( both of you ) threads descend into a shit flinging contest, as Nathan says fun for awhile.
I for one am interested in witty repartee but that stopped many posts ago. Ban you ,don’t think so ban him, don’t think so . Ban me , I don’t give a rats arse princess, play together nice ,not going to happen, me mentioned what I have , it’s just pointing out how ridiculous it’s becoming. But I do like you both having the same car crash and from experience usually one arsehole is more than enough per pair of pants. Oh and gizmo who made You Jesus that you have to save us all , some never get saved , some don’t want to be saved. I don’t need your saving, I don’t need his books I have my own toilet paper. 8 billion people on the planet they don’t stop here, sadly he thinks he can sell books here , maybe one or two, but most see through the pair of you so it all equates to a humongous waste of your own lives, yes your own life span . You be god in your mind , he can be god in his mind and leave it at that.
If it takes page after page of bile then obviously it’s not working for either of you, I can see that , you are so smart why can’t either of you see that. I frankly am surprised that you haven’t mentioned each other’s mothers and the various actions it involves and if that’s not an indication of you intellect what is. But then again you have started with the mommies boy tone so maybe I give you to much credit on the intellect side, Maybe your both saving it up for the last resort of insults.
You both want credit for something that neither of you can show that you are the originator of. Get over it.
Oh go and get me banned or do you both want to deny your both out of line and start and have a go at me, I’m sooooosooooo scaredy-cat of you both I like don’t really have much respect for either of you , not that it should matter a tinkers toss, it’s the internet as you two clowns have shown quite nicely, Nice one guys, you are both supreme something or others yet to be identified as a demigod like creature. For what it’s worth I hated the rem and stimpy show version one and this version two is way worse.
And even though I have posted this , I don’t have to reply to your next series of venom directed at me , I let it hang and post later at my leisure something neither of you two have the discipline to do. You two are way to reactionary press the buttons watch them jump Pavlov’s dog indeed. Woof woof puppies woof woof.
    Cheers

In fairness the above post has been moved as I was replying to it .

This original thread is of interest to me and I mention my above post as posted because I like to read threads like this without having to sift through crap of whoever it is that hijacks a thread due to personal vendettas. It doesn’t mean I support either of you but you do both have interesting points, I may not agree with them but it is food for my thoughts sometimes.
