Yes, it sounds like your wins must be attributed to variance, not +EV.

    Hi VegasGalPoker

I am totally with you about not having the stress to only play 99% and higher Video Poker all the time. I can find JOB 8/5 or 9/5 most anywhere, even in the Indian Casinos easily enough. There are some real stinker JOB pay tables out there that should be avoided at all cost!

This is the Payout table for the Oregon VLT's, a class 3 machine. There are over 6,000 machines here in Oregon that have been cited as "the worst game in the country" and has destroyed the lives of many people who get addicted to the games. Washington State Poker is all Class 2, even in the Indian casinos, and should absolutely be avoided!

My recent trip to Las Vegas, end of February 2014, 97% Video Poker was all over The Strip, high limits room I could only find 98%. Downtown I found 99% though much of them where excluded from any point multipliers, and visiting Sunset Station I found many 99% machines and a few 100% machines too. I did not look to close at them but I am guessing that points for those requires a much higher play though and are probably excluded from promotions.

Locally, the Oregon Indian casinos are not that bad. The best I can find is 98% with $4 for a point, and 350 points = $1. Slots are $1 = 1 point. They don't exclude Video Poker from multiplier and promotions, so on a progressive promotions where if you play each week, you go up the next week to the next multiplier lever (2,4,6) - well the 6X play does put the game in to advantage play. Few however really make it up to the 6X level, and even fewer play video poker.

I practice at home with the Video Poker for winners and have at times has a gold account at videopoker.com For the most part my play is good for the games I like (JOB, Bonus Poker, DDB) but not perfect. Some of the most difficult hands I make mistakes on that perhaps cost me 2 cents or something like that. I think like most people it is just missing the obvious like a pair or a straight because you where slightly distracted or thinking of something else. That tends to be the most common thing Video poker players say happens.

I play for fun and for my own entertainment. Sure, winning is great! I strive to do the best I can while playing any casino game, to play the most optimal and maximize any promotions that are going on. I am not needing to live off of gambling, though I probably could if it comes to it. I just like casinos and the variety of people that I meet, and the games of course.

As for Zengrifter, put that one on ignore. Ugly little trolls like that get off on jerking people around and saying things that only create drama.

Hi Mark, I do what you do, I have Win Poker for Winners and had a Gold Subscription on VP.com. Practiced a lot. There are a lot of good paying machines, but if a progressive isn't perfect and it's gotten high, I'm going for it. But pls, let's not start this thread, again, I beg of you!

The VP machine image that Mark V posted appears to be an 8-coin machine. I've seen 8-coin games that actually gave the best payback when playing five coins. I think it was because the royal payoff didn't increase after five coins. Trouble was the only way to play five coins was to press the Bet 1 button five times, then Deal. Check it out before you play.
