Does anyone know what the rules are for betting MORE than the table Maximum Bet allowed? I suspect it is different from country to country though. I was under the impression that a supervisor can over-ride the Maximum Bet if they want. True or false?

The reason I ask is that the other day I was at a 300,000 Peso Maximum Bet table. The high roller next to me bets 20,000P boxing Tie, Super Six and both Pairs. Then bets 380,000P on Banker. Everyone else at the full table bets and the dealer deals the cards.

Everyone bet on Banker, so the high roller gets the Banker cards handed to him and he squeezes one. I sat beside him and just so happened to see him squeeze a five. All of a sudden the dealer jumps up and slams her hands down on his cards and calls for the boss!

Everybody freaked out and they came over for discussion. He and I both argued the cards were dealt and the dealer must have been aware of the bet. They should accept his bet as is.

The decision was that he remove all but 280,000P from the Banker bet which left him with a TOTAL of ALL his bets on the table at 300,000P. He removed as told disgruntled. As he took back his money, I went to pull mine as a few others did. Oh HELL no they said! Our bets must stay! The argument ensued and we had to leave our bets as placed.

Banker had natural nine with a four added to that five he and I initially saw.

Everyone collected their winnings, stood up and LEFT the table! I looked over my shoulder walking away and the dealer and supervisors just stood there in total shock and awe.

What surprised me was that they did NOT seem to know what to do or what the rules were. We contended that since ANY card had come out of the machine, NOTHING else should have ensued but dealing the hand as is. Is this correct?

I have seen players place the bonus bet and the normal bet on the wrong spots and casino not notice and vary in the way they pay those players. Point is on a 10 table they placed $5 on banker and $30 on banker bonus. The variations on how they handle tho even at the same casino are so different and inconsistent even when the pit boss is called. What do the official rules say?

I have seen them ask other players if they want to change there bets before the cards where shown, and I have witnessed null bet for everyone and a push hand which would require everyone to rebet in such an instance. The rebet saved almost all the players from loosing there money. The push bet required camera bosses upstairs approval both created game delays and some players left the table upset only to move and bet elsewhere complaining the game is taking too long.

I have also seen them go ahead and accept the maximum overage but when it came time to pay only pay up to the maximum. So if your willing to risk the extra they will take it but when it comes to paying out they only pay up to the maximum.

I have been a dealer for many years, primarily in California. Property to property varies. But just about all casinos will allow certain players to go over table max depending on their front money and credit lines. Those players might have a $25k max limit at say a $10k or $15k max table. The players limits I have seen as high as $100k per hand.

As far as taking and paying money. If a player says table max and pushes out say $11,800.00 on a $10k max wager table, he will only get paid $10k as the dealer will break it down and then push the overage back. As well, if he loses the wager, he will only lose $10k as well. The dealer has to acknowledge the 'player takes table max' verbiage and alert the floor personnel.
