Hey gang, I was walking through a casino the other day and there were signs hanging from the machines saying that the progressives, if not hit, would have their monies moved to other progressives.

Does that mean that if the reset is $5k and the current prize is $11k that the whole $11k is moved, or just the player contributions ($6k)? Seems like it could be a nice play.

Only the player portion ($6k) would get moved/added to another machine.

Slots or VP? I assume its slots since reset is 5k.

Care to tell us what slot its on now and we can estimate or find out the cycle, just in case the try to put it on something much harder to hit. If they move it to something similar it's probably not that good sor whatever its on currently would be +EV and obviously that's a significant jackpot cycle.

If you don't know where it's being moved, you might want to simply ask where they are moving the money to" from your favorite machines" If not look around and see what possible options they have and start estimating if it's good. They may only have a few options all good or all bad for you.

hopefully it will be added to a lower denomination machine. FYI they can get tricky and spread it out to multiple different machines.

Slots can be very tricky and even with 6k added it might not be +EV, especially if they move it to something significantly harder to hit. Don't think they don't or can't do that, I have seen it done and the rules are ambiguous.

Even if they added 6k to a bad $1 VP progressive it would necessarily be all that good.

If it's in AC or LV and it's someone you are not comfortable with playing, feel free to PM me at Wizard of Vegas forum, if its a really nice overly IE They add it to Blazing sevens or something interesting, I would be willing to make you a deal.

I recall that MGM's infamous "Lion's Share" slot could not be removed from the casino floor until its jackpot finally hit.

Must not have been another comparable progressive slot available to transfer to: the game was very "old tech."

I'm not sure what the deal was with that machine but they probably could've just divided up the money and added it to other machines or did some giveaway. I have seen it many times. However if someone had been playing that for years adding a significant amount to the jackpot they might gave a legitimate complaint. According to my understanding they don't have to put it on something with the same or better odds of hitting.

They can put it on something that's not related whatsoever.

I heard they got quite a bit of action on Lion's Share -- people would wait in a long ass line to play the game. So...why would they get rid of it? If it's a slot machine with a nice house edge (ignore the progressive money, as that's a sunk cost) and lots of action WHY get rid of it? Best thing for the casino is for it to not hit for another 10 years, and rack up that 24/7 10% HE money...or whatever the HE is/was.

Not sure why it couldn't be removed (is that even true? I mean, I know people said that...but was it actually true), but only reason I can think of for it not being able to be removed, if true, is if there was some law when the game was initiated that stated a progressive MUST get hit (ie: then in later years, law modified so progressive money could be moved over), having the LS machine grandfathered in and required to sit until hit.

But no....if moved, at least in NV, doesn't have to go to something that's similar or close to the same odds. Could be a game with a 500k cycle and get moved to something with a really small cycle....or moved from video poker to something with a 500k+ cycle. Gaming regs are actually kind of interesting to read through, if you ever have the time.

Once it hit the progressive it wouldn't be very high. It's the same reason people flock to buy lottery tickets once it hits a new high, or whenever Mega bucks gets really high.
