Poker Is AK always a snap call Pre?

Discussion in 'Poker Forum' started by Poker Advice Latest, Jul 20, 2019.

  1. I understand this was a bad play but, was it totally bad?

Hero: Middle Position 40BB in the money late Day 2 Little One for One Drop, ITM ~800 Players left

Folds around to Hero. Hero makes it 3 BB with AKo

1 caller in late position and the Button Snaps all in with ~40BB.

I tank and fold thinking I didn't want to flip or be behind for a solid stack, heading into day 3.

Also hour 13 of a 14 hour day and was plain exhausted. No excuse.

A pro friend of mine says this is full retard because I had a shot to play Day three with 80BB.

    I ended up placing 333rd.

    Source.

In the situation that you describe I think that AK is a compulsory call, hey hey.

Correct play is to avoid flip and fold AK.. unless 40bb is less than 20% of my total stack I would call

Instafold. AK is a better push hand then call hand in those situations. IMO
I read somewhere that if you're not sure what to do - then fold- I try to follow that..
but as always depends on the player..
