This is an example of Progressive Craps from the book, The Dice Doctor.

This example uses passline and come bets and the wins are progressed up. We also play on qualified shooters as well as stop playing on a loss.

    hi mark v
good post. i've read the book and used the method on the tables and it does work often. it takes a lot of dicipline though. waiting for a qualified shooter. question? i believe the book mentions to maybe use the converted come bet as an alternate to come bet. which do you recommend?

    again, good info. thanks.

Couldn't agree more. A fine example of this Grafstein methodology. I think this strategy depends on a hot table. Captain obvious on that comment. Also, maybe a good strategy for the part-time craps player who only gambles a few times each year or maybe once a month. My understanding is that the guys who make a living at the craps table employ more of a hit and run strategy; or play the dark side if the table is cold. They take what the table will give them. Easier said than done of course. Also, my guess (not being a pro as defined by making my living at the craps table) is that they view the best bets on the table as place/lay bets and view P/DP as bad contractual bets. That's just my sense. On another forum I read every post by SuperRick and that's my take away on general strategy from reading his many comments. SR however does not discuss any specific strategy to my knowledge. One size doesn't fit all is another factor especially where risk is concerned. All I really know is what I have learned from an attempt to educate myself so I claim to not know very much. After all the guys who I see as 'knowing' is the guys who play almost everyday and have been doing so for at least three or five years. Just my 2-cents.

    Discipline, patience, money management

In the last 20 years of playing craps, I believe these three are as important as most dice books say they are. Of the three the hardest to me is patience. Now I’m old and just want to have fun instead of trying to make a living at craps. So I usually go for the gusto like someone on this forum mentioned, jump in, take your hits and run.

I’ll hop the 3-2 often, my favorite as it seems to come up a lot. I’ll chance the small, tall, and all for $1-2-1. I’ve thrown all the numbers once when I had $5 on the all. Have made some smalls and remain overall ahead on those numbers.

There are times though when the challenge shows it’s head again and I want to play as I should. I then use the 5 count with the dr’s method of waiting for a qualified shooter and bet whenever one comes up first.

Yes, I like to win like everyone else. “To be a good loser takes too much practice.”

    Just my 2 cents worth.

Hello you [removed, pay to advertise]' crapshooter! :)-) After I saw your handle I now wish I had changed mine to 'oldgrasshopper'. Yes, I was mesmerized by the old KingFu TV programs. I hear what you're saying. For most of us we enjoy the recreational and social features that casino craps provides just to get away from it all. It's an escape of sorts for most of us. A fantasy where we can forget about the mundane problems in life; and unfortunately sometimes much more. But that would be another topic. On a superficial level--as Nick The Greek put it--"The best thing in life is gambling and winning. The second best is gambling and losing." Tks for the dialog.
