Hey, I want to start a discussion about smth that many people don't believe in - the psychological when gambling.

I will tell u a story I will always remember - I use to work at land-based casinos in my country for like 10 years and I have been through the lowest to almost highest possible position there, so, I mean saw almost all possible styles of gambling people.

I can conclude 1 thing (on the side that the casino always wins) - we all should play for fun!!!

The Story - we had players, a couple around 60 years old, very polite, good-looking for the years, I mean intelligent people. So, they were coming like 1-2 times per month and always playing poker (Caribbean, Russian or texas ultimate) and to be honest (I haven't counted how many times they were winning) I believe they were winning like 7-8-9 times from 10 (my experience shows that is opposite). So, once I was a dealer and asked him: "hey, I believe that u are winning more than usual, I mean how the f*uck u are doing it so?" He smiled and said: "hey, I am not here to win money, I am here to relax from my everyday"

WOW, this guy do not think about the money when was coming to the casino...

Frankly, I was trying this strategy many times but looks like it is not enough just to think about it but to accept such an attitude at the casino at 110%

Guys, what do u think about it - can we win more often at the casino if we play for fun (in that case we will have to play not for the big money in my eyes)?

I only got this far and am totally down with your discussion here.

I come from the side that if you are a problematic gambler, known in the DSM-4 as a problem gambler. The therapeutic consensus here in America is that there is a chemical process in the brain that desensitizes a person from knowing the dangers of losing.

I have set out to provide a process to stay in the logic center of the brain by experiential knowing.. In other words taking the problematic gambler into a state of experiential expertise. You become a successful gambler and always beat the casino at will. You do this by remaining in the logic center of your mind, despite the distractions that the casino offers for your edification. Now I will continue your very valuable topic.

You can win all the time if you surf the common sized waves, the ups and downs. They are everywhere.

P.S. It's fun to walk in the door and win all the time. It takes determination and will power. Oh, and this. It takes the knowhow.

While playing casino games for fun can be a great way to relax and enjoy the experience without the pressure of betting real money, it's important to understand that the outcome of each game is still determined by chance and probability, and there is no guaranteed way to win more by playing for fun.

However, playing for fun can have psychological benefits that may indirectly improve your performance when betting real money. For example, playing for fun can help you become more familiar with the rules and mechanics of different games, which can increase your confidence and knowledge when you start betting real money. Additionally, playing for fun can help you develop a healthy relationship with gambling, by allowing you to enjoy the experience without risking money that you cannot afford to lose.

It's also worth noting that playing for fun can help you manage your emotions and avoid making impulsive decisions when betting real money. By playing for fun, you can learn to control your reactions to wins and losses, and avoid getting caught up in the excitement of the moment.

Ultimately, whether or not playing for fun can help you win more when betting real money is dependent on a variety of factors, including your skills and knowledge of the games, your ability to manage your emotions, and your luck. While there is no guaranteed way to win more, taking the time to enjoy casino games for fun can have a positive impact on your overall gambling experience.

Thank you for sharing your story and starting this discussion about the psychology of gambling. It's certainly true that many people have a hard time separating their emotions and financial goals when it comes to gambling, and it can be easy to get caught up in the idea of winning big. However, your story is a great example of how playing for fun and relaxation can lead to a more positive and sustainable gambling experience.

While it's impossible to guarantee wins or losses at the casino, playing for fun and not solely for the purpose of making money can certainly help to create a more enjoyable and fulfilling experience. This can also help to alleviate some of the stress and pressure that can come with gambling, and allow players to focus on the social and entertainment aspects of the activity.

Of course, it's important to always gamble responsibly and within one's means. It's also worth noting that while some players may win more often when they play for fun, there is no guaranteed formula for success in gambling. It's ultimately up to each individual to determine their own approach and goals when it comes to gambling.

Actually it is possible to guarantee wins and losses. Reading Randomness is all about using wins and losses to gain an advantage over the the casino. I have called it "coincidental change" after the the known advantage in counting cards in 21 from the known advantage "Variable change." This playing strategy is exactly the same as playing 21. You bet bigger while in a condition of advantage.

Now mathematicians and very good statistics experts will tell you that coincidental change is impossible to exist. Therefore all the books written to deal with addicted gambling or problem gambling all suggest what you just repeated, that there is no way to guarantee a win. Well this is no longer true. What is missing is not wishful thinking or out of control emotions. What is missing from all this is a skill that has been freely exposed here at this gambling website for great gamblers in the form of a lively discussion called 'Reading Randomness.' It's all here for free. It even includes free to use practice software in order to perfect that skill set safley. Gambling therapists only teach what they have been told. There was a time when counting cards was not known. Now, because of Ed Thorp and his book; 'Beat The Dealer,' it is known throughout the world. Coincidental Change is not known yet. The math that suggests that it works is not known yet. This will eventually all change.

BTW, It's nearly stupid to spam the forum like you have done. We all know that a system that you are selling is right around the corner. LOL.

It's an interesting topic to discuss the psychological aspect of gambling. Your story about the couple who played poker for relaxation rather than winning money is quite enlightening.

It's true that the casino always wins, and the odds are against the players. However, playing for fun can still be enjoyable and sometimes lead to a win. When players are solely focused on winning, they can become anxious and stressed, which affects their decision-making and gameplay.

Playing for fun can alleviate the pressure and help players make better decisions. It's important to remember that gambling should not be seen as a way to make money, but rather as a form of entertainment. When playing for fun, it's easier to set limits and not become too invested in the outcome.

In terms of winning more often, playing for fun might not necessarily increase the chances of winning, but it can make the experience more enjoyable and less stressful. It's also important to remember to gamble responsibly and within one's means.

Overall, playing for fun can be a positive attitude to have when gambling, but it's important to not get carried away and always gamble responsibly.

I appreciate the jist of your post about gambling and enjoyment, including the warning to gamble responsibly.

However the line quoted is simply not true. The first part....just 100 not true. The second part, the odds initially are with the house and against the player. There are things, legitimate mathematical things players can do to flip the advantage from the house to the players. Most gamblers don't employ these techniques. Those that do regularly are called Advantage Players and there is a fairly large group of them, employing all sorts of techniques. New techniques and opportunities everyday with the addition of all the new games and opportunities.

I do want to stress and have made it a priority to stress that these different techniques involve math. There has to be something that a player is doing to flip the advantage mathematically to win long-term. Betting systems and patterns alone simply cannot do this and THAT is the big misconception, fallacy or 'voodoo' that continues to be embraced. It has to be something that mathematically changes the game and flips the long-term advantage from house to player. One of the simplest and oldest of these things is card counting in blackjack. But that is dinosaur stuff compared to the newer things, with bigger advantages that are being done today.

Even for fun a bettor imo should get good advice.
(so at least your gambling money lasts longer.)

I want to add this. If you really want to win, play the dealer, not the game.

Dealers make errors all the time. If you can exploit those errors you can win imo.

Example: A blackjack dealer can sometimes misdeal cards. If you can negotiate an
arrangement with the casino to get an automatic win from an error, that's an advantage.

Oh calm down jbs. Isn't it more than obvious that you have nothing to worry about with the members of THIS forum getting too smart and becoming winning players? This forum is THE gambling voodoo forum.

I gotta say that I have never heard of "negotiating" an arrangement for an automatic win due to error. o_O I am not saying it isn't possible, but I am just not familiar with it.

BUT, there are players that do this kind of thing regularly. Kind of "shot takers" and the casinos don't like it much. I can't imagine announcing you are going to do that beforehand like with some pre-arranged agreement.

Rainbow wagering at blackjack or table games is one example of this shot taking type play. Players will make bets of odd amounts like $163 using multiple color chips (1 black, 2 green, 2 red, 3 white chips) trying to entice a dealer mistake mis-payment. If the mis-payment is not in their favor, they point it out. If it is in their favor, they say nothing.

I guess it would fall under advantage play, but it is a little less than honest isn't it? And btw, cheating also technically falls under the umbrella of advantage play. :)

Ok, what about that croupier that spins the ball exactly the
same way (without thinking)? Could be some dealer signature in play?

This is a fallacy in its own right. The patterns don't create the winning method. They don't have any power to change the math. Until the magical thinking of math oriented players reach this understanding this point continues and there will always be critics. I call it magical mathematical thinking because it's an assumption that has never been claimed. But that is always the argument that the mathZombies always want to have and to win this discussion with. It's like measuring dicks and claiming that you have a million dollar exotic car that makes your dick bigger. It's a none starter for this to go with. Now please listen again. A pattern, (trend,) allows you to see a condition that would be in a condition of advantage state IF you were already betting on it. It does not have any capability to predict a future outcome. It can't change the existing math. Now go ahead and ignore this as your kind always does.

Conversely math has no power to predict when an indicator, (trend,) will start to be in an advantage condition, how long that trend will last, and when it will end. But that never stops the math oriented absolutism to infer that it can. They insist that you must place the same sized bets when the math forces a correction. It's like ignoring the basic strategies of stock trading, "buy low, sell high."

We already have enough suckers. Just look at all the suckers that think that DE carboning the USA will lower Carbon Dioxide levels in the world. Our imbeciles are praising China for their efforts to build Coal and Nuclear power plants while selling the USA more wind mills and solar panels.
