Patterns and repetitive sequences can be seen. They can continue or they can end. But they will never have magical powers. They will flow in and out of three conditions. They will work great at times. They work all against you at times. And last, they will just be disappointing without any strong direction of good or bad for you. The point is to know what to do when you see these three conditions.

DOESN'T MATER, AT THE END OF THE DAY I SHOULDN'T EVEN BE ON HERE, WHAT I KNOW WAS GIVEN TO ME, I'M NOT NEAR SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE IT OUT ON MY OWN.

one of my favorite verses of the book if you want to know, and many are picking up the shiny Grail instead of the one made from the hands of a carpenter. the foolish things are often overlooked because they are just too simplistic to the eye.

Hi BTW: Still working two jobs 7 days a week.

There was something in your words that reminded me of something I hadn't thought about for a long time. Obviously, VP and Baccarat are different, but I was wondering if the difference isn't only in the game.

I was playing two VP machines like I usually do, and someone commented on the fact that I never bothered watch what cards came in after having held the correct draw. This really seemed odd to them. I had never thought about it. NOT ONCE. I said, "well what does it matter? The only thing I have control over is what cards I hold. What comes in after the draw is none of my business and has nothing to do with me."

    THEY THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY.

The question did puzzle me, so I looked into a few things that might explain the difference in thought. One is our perception of time.
Just like we can't be sure that green looks the same to you as it does me, there may be differences in how people perceive "RIGHT NOW". There are clearly many differences in what people consider to be “today”, and if we include the concept of “a casino trip” no agreement will be found.

Because of my odd memory the past and the present are almost equally weighted for me. The last ten hands I played are not anymore relevant to my brain than all the ones I played on the previous day.

I have an extremely short “right now” which is basically the hand I’m playing RIGHT NOW, nothing before and nothing after or even the not my job part of the draw.

My guess is that for baccarat players your right now is greatly extended and makes hands that have already gone by feel like they are part of something that’s happening to you now and ongoing. In a streak is the term I believe. I wouldn’t spot a streak if it hit me on the head, because I’m only ever looking at one thing at a time.

It’s an interesting thought. No idea if I’m right.

For the record I’m the odd one out. Seeing recent short-term memory and blending it into your sense of now is normal.

isn't the real "right now" only exist the first second you open your eyes after you are born ?
after that our "right now" has been infected by past experience and lost its purity caused by adding right and false information and its meaning can get distorted.
like if you are looking at a dog or a flower for the first time and dont even know what the word "dog" or "flower" means.
you are looking at it as what is.
the second you add a name to it, your perception of it changes just a little, and from now on, depending of what you heard or learned about it, within a few years you may have developed prejudiced towards it.
if only we would just take a breath before judging anything how greater our world could be.

the title seems revealing , you may have developed your "spidy" sense by not living life too much in the past or the future. welcome to the world of "misfits" whom are individual thinkers.

Not really sure what you meant by that reply. The Undoing Project is written by the same dude that wrote Moneyball. It's about how to overcome our biases and use external logic to double check our internal intuition. The thing being "undone" is bad decision making.

I'd also highly recommend a book entitled, "The Drunkards Walk" by Lenard Moldinow

I just like the title of the book its all good, by misfit I had a friend bringing up that word to me, and it simply means that I did not fit inside a religion or a "follow the herd" mentality. and when you had mention your "spidy sense " it reminded me of a certain 6th sens, or instinct some people have in able to tell what others are about without knowing them real well, as you can develop a great intuition by not conforming to what others tell you you should be. it is what I call being a "individual thinker", a leader.
I will check out those books, I enjoy learning always.

I could not agree more with everything said. I think "technically" the issue I have is considered a learning deficit and yet for me in my life it has proven to be an asset.

Where it's hurt me the most is parking my car. I never forget where I've parked. I remember everywhere I've ever parked in no particular order.

It's also confused the hell out of restaurant staff when I've asked for the same table I had last time--which after a moments reflection was twenty + years ago...LOL:)
