all the above quotes were from less than a week ago in one single thread with no quote attached to give the admin the impression that they were responding to a previous post in earnest.
except for the last post where the admin explains why the above posts were allowed through.
Like I said...the admin allowed folks to come in and take over the thread with vulgarities to the point where the thread is not recognizable. The new rule enforcement doesnt matter...under the old rules, posts like the above should have been removed. These are the straightforward ones.
The detractors of the thread turned it into a flame festival....making the topic of the thread meaningless....a real good effort and success.

can people just take over a thread and make it meaningless? Obviously yes. They can do it without even using insults. Is there a rule for that? There are crafy ways to derail any thread....and the admin allowed it to happen one way with "wov is dying".
there are many others.....and as authors of those threads see the inaction of the admins like i saw with "wov is dying"....the net increase of active members go away

Yes, and what we choose to do is listen to our members. The majority of our active members have spoken in favor of our enforcement of this rule.

We don't read every post, so posts need to be reported to bring them to our attention to increase the chances of us taking action. Until now, you're the only one who has been kind enough to report posts, and we hope that once we start enforcing this rule, most members (particularly those that voted "Yes" to enforcing this rule) will join you and help out by reporting posts containing insults directed at active members to help us keep the site clean.

You will notice a big difference in that thread once we start enforcing this rule.

The off-topic rule is meant to keep threads on-topic. We were thrown a curve ball when members started adding on-topic sentences to insults, and it made us pay less attention to insults as a result. That's what's going to change now.

That inaction is precisely what's going to change now under this new enforcement which should solve that.

Folks, we expect to go live with this new enforcement tomorrow (Wednesday), so if you have any final thoughts or suggestions, please let us know now. Thank you.

So can the Roulette/Stock/Child Porn scammers still post here if it makes you money and gains new members to increase to value of your site?

so admins job is to identify to the members the people that report them. Oh yeah you are going to get alot of people now who will "help you" with reporting.

I cannot be part of a board that has that type of "code"

why not make the report function transparent then.

I wish you well for now. I will check back in 3 months .hopefully 1268 goes up and all works out well for you.

thank you for the time allowed me here.

LarryS is just mad because the "freedom of speech" thing was going good for him when it was him and his cult posting....but now that he sees others taking advantage of it as was he, he's stuck in a position where only the anti-WOVers should be allowed free speech but the others he disagrees with shouldn't have free speech. Ya can't have it both ways, son.

Admin: If it isn't clear already why LarryS got banned from WOV, it should become clear pretty soon. LarryS will never give up, until he is forced (off the site). Headaches are soon to follow, if not already.

EDIT: Never-mind, didn't see his last post here. Hopefully Larry keeps true to his word and doesn't come back for 3+ months. Good riddance.

The WOV is Dying thread will always be here for the world to see. The invasion of the cult can't change that. Manboy will always be seen for the person he really is. Almost 2,800 posts and over 60,000 views. I'd say mission accomplished.

We aren't qualified to judge what is or is not a scam, that's up to our expert members to dissect and expose. No one is allowed to sell anything via their posts (Rule #2), so it's difficult to scam our members since scamming someone usually involves selling a product or service. We haven't had a single incidence of Child Pornography, something which is completely illegal and would be removed immediately and reported to the relevant authorities, so you lose a lot of credibility when you post something so ridiculous just for attention.

We were explaining the reason for the inaction you were referring to. If folks don't help the community by reporting posts that break the rules in order to bring them to our attention, then the community won't improve since we don't read every post.

This is not a bad idea. Would folks support making the reports visible to all members for the sake of transparency? This would also give the person being reported an opportunity to defend and explain themselves.

We hope you reconsider and continue participating here.

We don't pick sides and we treat all our members equally. LarryS has been helpful to our administration of this site, so we hope he continues participating and sharing his feedback with us.

That thread is not going anywhere, it's not getting moved, and it's not getting closed down. We will just be cleaning it of the superfluous flame wars so it no longer gets derailed.

    Hi Folks,

Thank you all for your input and feedback regarding this topic. Once again, we're glad to see that the vast majority of our active members are in favor of us reinforcing our Rule #1 about being respectful.

We have started reenforcing our Rule #1 effective immediately. Any posts from this point forward containing insults towards an active member will be moved to the new "Insults Graveyard". Once again, we will not be sanctioning the offending members, deleting any posts, or closing any threads. We will simply be moving the insulting posts out of the way to avoid starting flame wars that derail threads away from their topic.

If you do not wish to have your posts moved, then please debate each other without getting personal or attacking each other.

We won't necessarily be applying this rule retroactively, although we may clean up some of the more active threads that have been derailed by previous insults.

Please help us keep our community clean and respectful by reporting offending posts. We trust the enforcement of our Rule #1 will make more members more comfortable with endorsing our community while making our community more appealing to a wider audience.

    Thank you.
