Exactly. Every bet has to face extremes and that is the core defence of casinos apart from the "house edge" giving u faulty payout that affects you at micro level. Remember, you may get positive variance too, of same degree. Their random arrival and random stretch upto the "virtual limit"
can not be pre-guessed.
If we only have a fixed house edge working against us without any variance against us, it is quite easy to win, each and every session.
Just imagine if every 100 spins deliver you 47/48 wins of each EC and three 0s, many of us can win at least 1 unit by various systems.

 

I think I have elaborated this here and in my blog. We can not say that it is impossible to go beyond the "virtual limit" that I state but chances are very remote for anything like that to happen.
