Hi, guys. My name is Chaos Yarud. I am new to Baccarat.

I want to switch my career from an engineer to a professional Baccarat gambler in Macau.

I am going to study Baccarat with my limited programming skills. I think that the correct way to study should be on the foundation of math.

You are welcome to discuss with me.

I could not agree more. I just read a new book by Arnold Snyder one of the first inductees into the BlackJack Hall of Fame that blew the doors off ALL the techniques that BJ players used to determine card-counting strategies. It was done exclusively using computers and mathematical algorithms. While I know your question was on baccarat, a good starting point for you might be to look at some of the commercially available blackjack analysis software, such as the ones written by Stanford Wong. It will give you a feel for what's required to program something similar for baccarat.

I would also highly recommend you read Arnold's book "Radical Blackjack" it covers just about everything required to beat casino games and has references to all the software and every resource that's ever been available + links to interviews with all the professional gamblers that made their livings playing in casinos.

I actually just wrote a review of the book (NO PAY) as a favor to Arnold. I owed him for being my least offensive radio show guest:)

This should appear on the official site soon. I feel very confident sharing it here. This is not in the review I wrote, but it is true. I cried six times trying to get though his book. Partially, because of the time I lost going to the school of hard knocks route I chose...but mostly, because I know his wife Radar and what's happened to her.

    Here's the review:

    Radical Review of Radical Blackjack
They say that those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Radical Blackjack is the sort of history book you’ll want to read because you want to repeat it as much as possible…at least until you’re politely asked to leave for wining too much money… ~FK 2021

When I began reading Arnold Snyder’s last book, Radical Blackjack, I could not help but think of the scene from Airplane II where the crew must venture into the bowels of the shuttle where there are several barrels labeled in consecutive order, “Danger”, “Vacuum”, "EXPLOSIVE", "DYNAMITE", "A MUST SEE". This sums up Radical Blackjack well. It is as informative, as it is disheartening. It may only be disheartening to people like myself that spent the last thirty years of their life in the field of professional gambling. If I had read it thirty years ago, I would have saved myself a lot of pain and made more money than I did… It’s rough to find out at age 54 you had it all wrong for most of your life.

The only way a book like this ever gets written is one—the writer is retired & two—a global pandemic and corresponding quarantine gives said writer slightly more free time than they’d like. This happened to me. In response to too much free time I finally wrote down all the stories of my family, which I’d recounted over dinners, for which I’d received the reply, “you should write that down”. I heard that many times, but I never actually did it until the quarantine. My stories might be entertaining. Arnold’s stories are a template for success.

Arnold Snyder could not have written this book during his career, and he would not have written it if not for the pandemic. I say this with confidence. I have never read a book on Blackjack with more densely packed proprietary confidential information countless people would prefer never to see the light of day. I can only hazard a guess, but I’d assume Arnold’s earn on writing might have been bigger if he’d taken money not to publish. I don’t believe that making the most money was his goal with this project. This was a labor of love. This was a swan song and legacy to leave for the next generation.

Knowledge is a funny thing. Sometimes all it takes to change the world is the knowledge that something is possible. One can garble the details, understate the rewards, and misrepresent the directions; yet the simple knowledge that a new land exists somewhere across the horizon is all that is necessary to spawn a full migration to a “new world”.

Arnold’s book Radical Blackjack is the epitome of this dynamic taken to the Nth degree. It clues people into the concepts of how to make money in casinos that I’ve never seen in print before. It shatters the illusion that casinos are infallible and only built on losers. Shatters it, burns the fragments, and scatters them to the four winds in a Tibetan sky funeral, as birds of prey devour and carry the carcass into the sunset.

Radical Blackjack is not an obfuscated tease at new land over the horizon. It is a well-documented road map with GPS coordinates and free compass to Xanadu. If it is still possible to make money in casinos, this one book will tell you where to look for the cracks in the armor through which one can drive trucks.

Here’s the thing: Radical Blackjack may discuss a host of things that are no longer possible, but this knowledge is as relevant now as it ever was or will be. Over time games change, the rules of the games change, but the people making the rules never really do. Some things change, people aren’t on that list. Radical Blackjack is about more than Blackjack, it’s about human error and how to exploit it.

As research for my own book, I read “Liber de Ludo Aleae” (The Book on Games of Chance) by Gerolamo Cardano. It was the first book on gambling math and written in the 16th century. I had expected it to be interesting, but not applicable to my modern life. After all, it was six-hundred years old. I was wrong. Cardano’s descriptions of the trials and tribulations he faced could easily have been what I called, “Tuesday”.

I believe Radical Blackjack is a similar book that will stand the test of time to all that is and is not possible where the house and gamblers collide. It is flammable and explosive, it is also a “must see”.

    ~Francis E. Kneeland

P.S. I am also writing a post retirement book. So far, I have, “don’t take any wooden nickels” as my only topic.

You are quite welcome. Having been a pro gambler most of my life 90% of the books on the subject I've read or reviewed disappointed me as they contained very little information I did not already know, or know better. Also they tended to be very dry. Arnold's book did not disappoint.

Fair warning: The stuff he wrote about loss-rebates has almost never been given that much detail. That part of the book is a bit long winded, but it also has the potential to be the most useful, especially to a baccarat player.

I honestly never knew you could get these "special" host deals. Perhaps for VP players it not such a big thing.

Lastly, when you read about Radar, know that she is recovering from brain cancer. It's very sad.

Oh that book I referenced in my review, “Liber de Ludo Aleae” (The Book on Games of Chance) by Gerolamo Cardano is now available translated from Latin with a biography written by øystein ore.

Cardano: The Gambling Scholar (Princeton Legacy Library, 4972) Paperback – March 21, 2017

There are some cool stories in there. Especially the one about when he caught the house cheating and had to flee a city in the middle of the night and stole a row boat to escape the city. A storm came in and he nearly down, though he was saved by a boat, which turned out to be a floating casino also owned by the same man that owned the casino he was running from:LOL...

Frank, are there comics and/or movies of those books that you mentioned?

I fall asleep just from reading a few pages of novels.

Yes, but only in the original Latin.

Seeing the CCP heavily censor the internet (along with everything else) in chinnaaaaaaaa, if I was a gambling man, I'd say you're right.
