Baccarat Tale From The Trench

I posted about this on the web site BaccaratLabs at the time, it seems a bit relevant with events happening now.

I posted in another thread about the young Chinese dude who is literally killing them where I play. I'm not sure what they are going to do about it. Basically he now has too much capital behind him, won too much of the casinos cash for them ever to get it back, if they are lucky they'll recoup a few thousand, but I can't see them getting any more than that. And on the flip side if he stays around for the next 6~9 months he's gonna hurt Gentings annual rake for this place, will be interesting how this plays out, this guy ain't humble either, got a bit annoyed with them because they wouldn't open a private table and let him bet £5k table max.

Anyway, it got me thinking, something I witnessed over 10 years ago Sunday night at my local, at a time when they had a big Bac table, players handled the shoe, pallet, 12 punters to a table.

This Chinese guy come in with a body guard, as in a real body guard not some internet fantasy tale.. It was a Sunday night, unbeknown to me, not understanding Chinese, he had passed money to a few of the locals prior to playing. So not much is happening, small bets, I wasn't paying much attention, he was seated at the table, but not betting.

Next he has the shoe, so he is pulling the cards, Lawd have mercy, did this guy lose, did he fuck, hand after hand, table max of £2k. Most Chinese in this place bet Banker only, this guy bet both sides, usually a nominal £500 on the Player, table max on the Banker. Lots of talking and discussion before he placed his bet, totally ignoring the staff's call for "cards please". I wasn't doing too well at the time, but the number of hands he won was UNREAL, I have seen anything like it.

When you thought he had lose, ie. other side pulled an 8 or 9, it would TIE or Basi-Gow. He was so far of the scale, I thought he must be feeling dimples on the cards or something, nope everything above board. Then he would give a signal and place a £2k bet, 3 or 4 others dudes would do the same, he had gone around and provided them with his money prior to sitting down LOL, The casino knew it too, so now he has £8k out, yep result wasn't even close, of course he won, he repeated that a few times, never losing a bet.

I was losing though so was a Chinese friend of mine, who asked him after he had stopped playing if he could help him get his money back, which he did, he told him when and which side to bet, turning around a £8k deficit in one shoe, fuck me...

One of the most remarkable events I've witnessed in a casino and it takes a lot to impress me. he won approx £80k, that is serious damage to this casinos bottom line, but there is more.

He stuffed a massive handful of notes in the dealers tip box, when he cashed out, so they were half happy, the manager on duty was doing his fuckin nut, he was literally going crazy.

I arrive on the Monday night, all the Gentings big-wigs were there, the local Chinese were taking the piss out of them, saying "he's not coming tonight", "you can relax", "he's decied to leave you alone". Everybody was made up that somebody had literally battered the place.

I turn up Tuesday, in walks the same dude with his body guard and he does it all over again, I don't recall how many shoes he played, either 1 or 2 max, this time is was a full on assault, if he wasn't holding the shoe, he didn't bet, I don't recall how, but when he got the shoe, he kept it, it didn't move.
I'm thinking cheating of some sort, I watched him like fuck, as did the casino, if any underhand-ness was taking place, I didn't see it.

When he finished playing, he left his score card on the table, which I took, I no longer have it, but did post it, highlighting winning bets on Bacc~Labs, nobody could work out how he was determining his bet selection, trust me I went poured over and over that score card. I considered card tracking, everything. I asked my Chinese friend who he had helped recoup on the Sunday how he did it, he was vague and just said he is a very good player. If there was any information to be had, it certainly wouldn't be coming my way.

It was a long time ago, what I do remember is he dropped his bets when betting Player also he used a negative progression, two things the Chinese usually don't do in his place, alas I was more interested in his BS. Anyway forget the £80k which he won on the Sunday, he won £110k on the Tuesday (locals told me afterwards). Whatever he was doing to determine his bets, he never passed it on.

If you manage to win £2 or £3k in this place your marked, never mind just under £200k from 2 visits. his body-guard had some satchel which was just the right size and shape for a few £50 bricks bundles. He never returned, I heard he went to Manchester or Birmingham and lost it all, but don't know if there was any truth in that. It was not only the amount that he won, also his hit rate, well into the 70% range from the score card I grabbed.

Call it luck, right side of the bell curve, some deep secret master-class teachings that nobody else knows about, I really don't know, but in the here and now this young dude is hurting Gentings just like this other dude did over 10 years ago. Will be interesting how things pan out.

 

The anecdotal tale of short terms happening are entertaining because the unusual stand out. I'm sure there was no reason or rhyme to the Chinese cat's bets selection. These guys who go on the hunch or the guts instinct, on the whim can look like the hero over a small number of shoe. But, eyeball the cat's result for 50 or even 25 shoe and I'm sure he would lose like most. Serious cats what win regular got a replicable, mechanical style based on logic, and things what are real like streaks distribution stat or ratio of 2s to 3s, etc., hey hey.

I have seen similar scenarios at high limits in my casino outings (mostly Asians), in Aria a few years ago there was a young 22 year old Asian guy dressed in Michael.jackson thriller type of outfit that walked in with two stunning asian model looking girls.. I was playing the lowest high limit table it was $100 to $15000 limit, I was one of the only few customers there about 3am. He watched me for little bit and asked if he could base his bets off of me, I said no.problem but dont blame me because although I was winning at the time I do go on long losing streaks too,but I had the ammo to recoup at higher unit bets . He said ok no problem.

He asks for a $200k marker, I'm sitting with about 8 to 12k.

I bet my $100 he bets about $12k following me, for two bets... We.lose... he laughs it off with his girls.. I Continue to bet $100 and he bets $15k opposite of me.. i.continue to lose.

By the end of the shoe (he.started mid shoe) he was up about $110k either betting with me or against my bet, he waited.for me to bet I was flat betting $100 lol.

The funny part to me was.that as he was getting up to.leave with +$100k be asked me how I was doing for the night and that shoe, and including that shoe I was down about $1000(10 units) for the night I told him. He smiled, So.i thought he was going to throw a $1 k chip my way, lol, and I welcomed it of course.

But he just said thanks a good luck. Lol.

I saw him the next evening at another table and it looked like he was down about $50k of.course and he ended up leaving.

LOL, he asked if he could follow you but never threw you a bone. I have losing about $1k in Adelaide many years ago, some young blood was betting chips like it was confetti, he's watching me and after about an hour, says "you look like you've been here a long time" and asked me how I was doing, I told him and he flipped me a $500 chip. Which I thought was nice of him, as my mate said, "he must have had a good growth" haha

 

Just a quick update on this young Chinese Big Hitter, apparently he is not a student, rather a pro-player, he is not expected back to where I'm playing, rather has returned to the capitol.... So this casino can now breath easy, money talks....

Actually it's not so unusual, especially in Vegas, that some HS players set up as a 'trigger' some other player's betting.
Not surprisingly they are all asians.

Here is a tale from which took place many years ago. I've posted it elsewhere, I'm guessing some may have not seen it.

Down-under if an extra and unnecessary card is pulled, it is a void cue, meaning nobody can bet on the hand and the shoes continues, makes perfect sense.

In the UK, where when it comes to Punto-Banco they were literally stupid, if an extra and unnecessary card is pulled then it is the casinos mistake, advantage to the punter LOL.

So I'm sitting there this night, playing one on one at some local place, I get a rhythm going with the dealer, then I paused, the female dealer is still going Natural 8 to the Player, 6 to the Banker STOP, there's no bet on the table, oh oh, take the cards back.

I had been betting approx anywhere between £5 ~ £20 per hand. Card are taken back, yeah you know what's coming. I bet £400 on the Player, N8 to the Player, 6 to the Banco, pull another card which was a 3. FUCKIN' OUCH.

I was fuming and cursing, had it not been for the dealer mistake I would have been nowhere near any £400 bet. So anyway same venue different female dealer, again I've got a rhythm going, then I deliberately stopped, the dealer kept going, this time I didn't mention there is no bet on the table and let her deal the entire hand HAHA.

Then I said, the house rules are, advantage to the punter, take back the cards. Manager comes over, an heated discussion takes place, I remind him of what happened a few months prior, like I say, they are fucking naive in UK, something like this wouldn't happen down-under.

There is a stand-off while they consult some rule book, it literally took 30 minutes, arguing etc, "you can't change the rules, when it suits you" blah blah. Finally they agree to replay the hand, I make sure the order of the cards is exact, haha. UNFORTUNATELY the table limit was £1000.

So I re-buyin and place a table maximum bet on a horse in a one horse race Looooooollll. I say after they paid me, they are you're rules, after about 30 mins, i go to the cage to change chips for cash, as this place is a bit dodgy, boss comes over and asks are you leaving, nar, I don't want so much displayed on the table and then I continue playing. A good night and the revenge was sweet. As a side note, the dealer didn't continue working there, rather at another casino chain and never dealt the game again also the game itself is no longer on offer at this casino.

It doesn't end there, the casino in question is part of the Genting chain, so I go to their main casino, I walk in sit at the table, word gets around, the dealers are calling me a cheat, I cheated, I laugh it off and say they are your stupid rules not mine, you have to be pretty careful agruing with any dealer, particular in my case, as it would give them an excuse to ban me, as they are classed as Private clubs. Anyway, one night I get there early, me and the dealer, yep you guessed it, they did the same fucking thing, 3 cards pulled, Natural 8 to the punto.

You couldn't make it up, so now more players have arrived, but the casino say, only those seated at the table can bet on the hand, which we know is a N8 to the Punto haha, honestly, with what happened in their sister casino, I only put out £50 on the Punto, which won, other punters said, is that all, so I told them what had happened a few months earlier. Once burnt, I was reluctant for a repeat of the same.

At one time the table was full, 3 cards pulled, so they took back the cards, everybody adjusted their bets and which side accordingly and the entire table lost. Groans and moans, the pit-boss was laughing, saying, we show you 3 cards and you still can't manage to win, think he had a point there haha


Rouge hands; the Chinese are notorious for it and have it down to a fine art, if they spot a dealer mistake, such as puling another card for the Banco after the Punto should have stopped after an 8 being pulled for example. They quickly tell those sitting at the table to shut up in Cantonese of course.

So for the next hand, a small group will load up to the table max on the Banco (£2k), if the Banco wins, nothing is said they take their winnings, if they lose however, they complain about the prior hand being drawn incorrectly which has impacted on the result of this hand. Haha it was so blatantly it didn't take long for the casinos to cotton on. So they now froze the bets not did not return them as they used to do, they would correct the rouge hand and adjust payouts if required and then replay the subsequent hand. One time they did this, the host of £2k bets still all lost, so then you get the barrage from the pit supervisor "cheats never prosper" for the next half hour and so on.

The rules have now changed, where it is a avoid cue, or they will simply burn the card, but shit like this happens when you get naive stupid casino operations, as I say, nothing like this would ever happen down-under.
