    Hello folks,

As most of you know, we are one of the most leniently moderated Gambling sites in the world. This is important in order to ensure our members feel 100% at liberty to share their opinions, no matter how controversial. However, when those opinions just become insults, they tend to derail threads and transform topics into flame wars and actually become counter-productive to open discussions. We initially created the Insults Graveyard to attempt to deal with this by moving posts containing insults away from the threads at hand, but that has clearly not acted as much of a deterrent and just created more work for us. So we are exploring new ways of dealing with insults in our community to encourage and foster a higher level of debate in our community.

One of the options we are exploring is quite unique and we have never seen it in any gambling site before, but we believe it provides a more effective and balanced approach.

Basically, instead of doing nothing to the members that repeatedly violate our #1 Rule (be respectful) by insulting other members and derailing threads, and instead of banning them like other communities do which limits their freedom to express themselves, we are proposing something in the middle: temporarily frustrating their user experience as punishment.

So, for example, we would issue a warning for every insult. Every 3 warnings would lead to growing but temporary punishment periods where the offending member would have their user experience frustrated.

What do we mean by frustrated? Well, instead of every page loading instantly, it would take -- say -- 20 seconds for every page to load. So they would still be able to participate and use our site like before, but during their "punishment", they would waste a lot of time waiting for each page to load, giving them ample time to reflect on their behavior. During that punishment period, we could also randomly redirect the offending members to a message reminding them that it's not worth it to insult other members.

Of course, egregious rule violators, such as those caught with multiple accounts but who refuse to confess, would still be banned. This is more for those who break less detrimental rules, such as insulting or throwing a thread off-topic.

The idea is to find a deterrent that's effective enough to make repeat offenders reconsider their ways, while not depriving them of the ability to express themselves. We would still move reported posts containing insults to the Insults Graveyard to keep threads clean an on-topic.

How does this new approach sound?

It's a good idea. I've gotten just about all my frustration out. The Trump win with the House & Senate intact has done wonders for me.

    LOL.... what a naive idea

The only thing this forum has going for it which could be marketed as a USP is the fact you can be a complete cunt and not be moderated.

    Thats its pull.

The rest is just the usual BS from liars and ego-maniacs

Its not a great USP but its all that distinguishes it from other sites.

Here is what you propose. A high limit baccarat player goes in a high limit room to play. He is treated rudely by the staff. No one does anything to fix the problem. He does not return. His host calls him up and says what's the problem. He says, "really never mind". He is on to another property.

You seriously have a few people/members that ruin your entire board, point blank and seriously.

its a weird idea. I dont think someone who isdrunk will care one way or the other.

Actually I thought when OAB was banned, the workof the admin went down. But then agasin I just participate on 3-4 threads

remember when "Sandra" got here. I said she seemed to be phoney.////https://www.gamblingforums.com/threads/starting-to-play-again.4535/

actually I think a more effective "frustration would be if their post appears more like an hour later. Now that would be real punishment.
it would ruin their ability to have real time give and take responses.

I dont think 20 seconds or 1 minute means anything.

It wouldnt make ME relect or feel punished. 20 or 30 seconds...even a couple of minutes....no big deal to me...

It seems like the proposed approach aims to strike a balance between enforcing rules and allowing freedom of expression. The use of temporary frustration as punishment could be effective in encouraging members to reflect on their behavior and discourage them from repeatedly violating the rules. However, it's important to ensure that the punishment is fair and consistent, and that members are given clear warnings and explanations about the consequences of their actions. It's also important to consider the potential impact on user experience for other members who may be affected by slower page loading times. Overall, it's a unique and creative approach to addressing rule violations, and it will be interesting to see how it works in practice.
