    @gizmotron@Mark,
I know you are not a layman but I have certain questions regarding identifying randomness through patterns or trends as you claim. Isn't it merely a fallacy?

Pathological gamblers "see" patterns in things that are actually quite random and not really there, to such a degree that they are quite willing to impulsively bet good money on such illusory nonrandomness. This is confirmed by Wolfgang Gaissmaier of the University of Konstanz in Germany and Andreas Wilke of Clarkson University in the USA, leaders of a study in Springer's Journal of Gambling Studies that sheds light on why some people are gamblers and others not.

Why do you attack trends/patterns when not later than yesterday you said this is the HolyGrail. I see a contradiction.

I do not play for any upcoming pattern or trend as I never believe in that. Where did I say that a pattern is a holy grail? Please enlighten me.

Why do you give a listing of W/L past results to make a demonstration in your HolyGrail thread then.

Thanks for the question. Those professors at the university are generalizing for a conclusion that they were seeking to get. That is a fallacy too. In the world of real research what they have done is known effectively as "confirmation bias." When more people see randomness the way that I do then this crackpot theory of theirs will make it to the dust bin of one more wrong assumption of mankind.

For one thing, seeing patterns or trends is just an allusion. It's an illusion to believe it has any capacity to predict a future event coming from a fair random process like a fair card shuffling machine, the throw of Dice, or the spin result from a Roulette wheel. All these processes are random and have no prediction powers. So it is a fallacy to believe that any prediction has taken place. But that does not prevent the illusion of a pattern or the illusion of the form of a trend from being useful anyway.

What is missing for most people and hair brained scientists is the fact that trends and patterns have times when they continue. The actual odds are still the same on the next hand, the next throw of the Dice , or the next spin of a Roulette wheel. But this illusion of a pattern or trend still continues at times. If the pattern/trend is identified as a type of characteristic then that form of an illusion can be seen to swarm for longer periods at times than just a single event of the identified characteristic.

When I gamble to beat a casino, I do it knowing that I don't know what will happen if I see a pattern or a trend. Mathematically it is close to a coin flip that I will win the opening bet on seeing the illusion of a pattern, if I bet that construct to win. Seeing patterns or trends is just an excuse to tie an illusion to a bet selection process. In other words I'm using the streak, the structure and form of the streak, a portion of past spins, to tie these forms to wins or losses. I have always suggested that anyone could use any consistent bet selection process to expose the three states of effectiveness. That is the only real currently occurring fact based data gathering construct going on here. You can know if you are in a winning streak and you can actually see it change to one of two primary other types. This is real information and it is not based on a capacity to predict the future. These are phases that occur while you make bet selections for whatever reason you make guesses. I don't play blind rule based progression bet selection methods because they never win in the long run.

I play the effectiveness streaks, when they are clustering in favorable conditions. You can chose to blindly fund bad or chaotic conditions. You can chose to up the anti on win streaks. The data that comes from using "clustering illusion" is in fact real data. The process of seeing a pattern or a trend is just an excuse to get to that real data. All I do is to tie the illusion of form to the win streaks. I don't need a scientist's permission to play a game of real data gathering. Their hypothesis works if the idiots always pay their way thru the losing streaks. 99.9% of all people that bring money to be lost into a casino actually successfully accomplish that task. They are dumb enough to fall for fallacies like something must be due to happen. These quack professors are only looking at the majority of players that are in fact idiots. They got just enough bullshit put together to get themselves government research grants. That unfortunately is how a lot of information is processed. Then they write peer reviewed books and a few jackasses in the academic society all sit around and debate their findings. So they get labeled published academic author. And they pull the wool over unsuspecting people that think because they are academic research scientists that they must know the truth.

So I see all their conclusions as red herrings and straw man arguments that support nothing more than a subjective point of view. Those are easy arguments to defend. But they don't actually deal with real objective, critical thinking. But like I said, they do sell a few books.

I gave the answer this way because I needed to deal with assumptions that are not in fact truth. There are players here on this forum that clearly state that patterns and trend formations can't be seen because they are not real. So they won't even look to see if it is possible to tie an illusion to a win streak. All they see is the strategic arguing point that because it is a fallacy it can't be useful. So there can't be anything here in this direction that is useful. So they use random on random for bet selections and they promote MM as the correct path of enlightenment. Posturing or grandstanding by knocking people down does not actually support an opinion. It just makes the messenger an obnoxious chicken shit that is just too scared to actually make a critical thinking argument. They think they are protected behind a wall of accepted group think. But that is nothing more than an "eminence front."

So let me just say this. "I can tell you but I can't understand it for you."

Here comes a good question. I m not saying to play this after seeing that as any sort of HG. I m saying that can you survive bad stretches and then win thereafter with only average number of wins without getting or expective a "compensatory " streak of wins. If you read the full topic with open eyes, you would be able to understand the gist.

To sum it up, you believe playing sleepers brings an edge because if you played them from the start you would suffer a big loss, and then you just have to bet on them hoping they will hit more than their average to profit. This is what Turbo explained during years and didn't understand it does not change your odds of winnings, because roulette is a game of independant events.

I am only talking about how to play to ensure winning a net profit despite getting too long bad stretches. It seems you can't comprehend anything by reading. Find other interesting topics than those of mine.

Roulette is a game of independent events. In that independence you get win phases and losing phases. The future does not cause these things to happen. They just happen because of coincidence. You don't have to fund the losing phases at the same price as the winning phases. You will still get the expected number of losses that is mathematically likely to occur. You can't get around that. Sometimes you can't see the phases because they are hidden in chaos. But there are definite times when you can observe the losing streak or the winning streak. Am I crazy here? You people can see the win streaks and the losing streaks can't you? If you can't see that then there is no point in discussing gambling tactics. I'll just order up a government mandated rubber room for all seekers. I would laugh my ass off if somebody wants to make a good argument for not seeing these phases.

albalaha lots more waffle here than on the racist site!!!!!

Maybe some of us, don't wish to get involved in endless waffle that goes round and round in circles that never ends in any conclusion, so it's debate just for the sake of engaging somebody's ego, and / or deluded way of thinking, dependant on what they are presenting. I'd much prefer to admit DEFEAT straight off the bat, get it over with and go and make money.

    To grab your attention.

In the UK Ties are called egalite's as they should be, I adopted that moniker as a user ID on many sites.
