I agree and said that just because someone claims a profession doesn't make it so. However someone that I'd known to be good at what they do. Had experience knowledge, teaches othets who can verify, hires people to work for them ans has been making a living at it for many years I would call them a professional. Not all professionals go to scoop or get a license for what they do. Some guy could be a professional shoe repair person the premier shoe guy in his city with a bug shop lost of business and year's of experience. Some smuck could get a professional certified license online and never do anything but have his friend do all the tests and work yet he has a license and calls himself a professional. It doesn't matter what LarryS thinks, it matters what is true.

If someone is calling themselves a professional gambler call them out make them prove it. Just be willing to prove yourself and be willing to put your money where your mouth is.

Of course certain professions want licensesand credentials because they are responsible for other people's lives. My dad in Washington is/was a professional mechanic he worked as the leaed mechanic at ford in a major city, then he owned his own business he recived certificates, awards and even got a seattle paper write up and many other accolades. He never went on school for it, he never got a mechnices licence never did anything but learn and be self tought, he never applied for anything other than a business licence for his shop. AAMOF he was not even an american citizen even afer he fought for our country in the Vietnam war. Eventually he became one because he wanted to legally own gun's and work for the state as guess what? a professional state inspector. Tell him he wasn't a professional mechanic or a expert. Ino his field.
