The site isnt called "the pimp of odds". He is supposed to be knowledgeable on the math of gambling. Do you think his wife and kids pat him on the back and say..."try to put up more pics of yourself posing with women who want nothing to do with you". You really think they would enjoy more and more of them? Yeah, well, were all of that true, then why is the Wizard still hanging around. Take it to the next level. In reality, we don't really know anything about the supposed deal to sell his sites. All we do know is that it's another very confused arrangement (to come out in the wash later, like all the others). I think that he's still selling cheap online casino advertising. Only difference is, the advertisers have control of their ads' placement and layout; not to mention an even stranger hands-on control over the now completely impotent host's barroom type contributors.

Is he still groveling on all fours in the Survivor role type videos? And name dropping his relatively unknown million-dollar internet site which doesn't really sell anything concrete? The forum which isn't, and never really paid even a true actuaries average salary; not to mention continues to pay anything. Good actuaries earn five times that over the twenty years he has been messing around with professional gambling in the usual fall from grace stages. (I went to school with a guy who earned $400 a day while just studying in university in a co-op program to become an actuary.) Were he actually doing actuarial work to begin with - glorified accounting in the form income tax rules and regulation, risk management research, etc, in the real world - wouldn't he still be doing it, at a full million dollars a year now? Yet the Wizard hangs around on the internet, like the kid with a piece of meat around his neck so that the dog will notice him. Earning zilch.

Is he still drooling over 10-million-dollar chances at government grow-op opportunities? Back to the cloistered government stuff, notably, lol, his glory days of creating a computer file of baby names. Make-work stuff. Safe stuff which starts out small, and takes thirty years to arrive at a good salary. No, he had to go for the quick and in-your-face buck.

Nothing special about a lifetime earning of a couple of million dollars. Ground floor, entry level stuff.

For those unfamiliar with the history:

Zuga is one of the new owners of WOV. He is the one in charge.....or the one who is supposed to be. The mods there are left over from when Wizard owned the site and they are loyal to him. Beachbumbabs, aka beached whale, and Mission146/Pavlov146, aka husband of the year, have nothing but contempt for the new owners and make that quite clear at every opportunity. They have not an ounce of respect for Zuga or the other owners and refuse to recognize their authority.

Buzzard is the only person to ever be banned by Zuga....one of the owners....their boss. The mods like Buzzard. They resent the fact that he was banned. They resent the fact that the owner would make a decision on HIS site. Buzzard returns periodically under new names...dozens. The mods recognize this immediately but, in defiance of Zuga, allow him to post. Then they make up a story about no IP match or they weren't sure or they missed it etc.

They think it's cute when Buzzard posts but are quick to ban Exoter, Kentry and others while letting the chosen few do whatever they please. It's the Wizard mentality. We'll leave the Wizard's mental state for another time.

 

Thats what any business owner gets when they allow people with nothing to lose financially....the power to effect customer service.

Do you know ANY truly famous actuaries, or even lawyers? Not a one. Not a single monumental real discovery between them. Gee, I think I'll build an actuarial neutrino bomb today. But not for deployment on the lawyers. They hold the standard electromagnetic model key to unwrap my special income-tax neutrinos. It's easy to look good when you make up also the questions, and pick and choose who you want to entertain by it.

Analysis is no substitute for creativity and originality; as overanalysis (in the form of actuarial and lawyerly compensation for idiocy) is no substitute for cleverness or resourcefulness.

I guess that boring people in boring jobs often resort to the stereotypical nonsense about real mathematicians et al failing accounting and tying their laces to "get over" their dreams (of something, anything, better) being non-starters.
