EvenBob posted that the WOV site is so boring that he doubts he'll make it to 20K posts. Well stop the presses! That boring post got him 2 responses and one of those told him not to let the door hit him on the way out.

We'll have to wait to see how this latest bombshell will affect terrorism, climate change and world hunger. Poor EB.....19,000 plus posts of pure nonsense and he expects to be taken seriously. Talk about boring..... This windbag has over 6,000 posts manboy's DT site.

    Welcome to the new world

I guess what the definitiion of "dying" is ,determines the perspective of the title of the thread.

If losing 25 percent of member visits daily...compared to 2 years ago (205 yesterday vs 285approx, earlier) is an early sign of "dying"...then yes it is dying.
Just as you are dying and I am dying as we speak. Our bodies are not increasing in viability. And the board is on a downward dying slope

However there are businesses in the world that are growing...that are on the upswing, that are increasing customers...just not wov.

Wov didnt just come along for the ride in the purchase. The value of it was included in the price. The value of having a site to sell more advertising spAce has some value to a purchaser. Its not like they purchased WoO, and then after the sale. Manboy said..."I will throw Wov in for free. Now that scenario is "coming along for the ride". Otherwise Wov had a value that was included in the sale price.

So although I can see the point that Wov is not on "life support"......I still submit it is on a "dying" trajectory

Just as with people.....2 things can be EQUALLY TRUE....they can be dying......AND they can still not be on "life" support............YET

I read alot recently about "group gambling". for the get together.

I thought gambling was a sacred business to be taken seriously by the APs, where every hand is to be respected, concentrated on, and bet accordingly.

Gambling while under the influence of alcohol, hi fiving your group of "friends", conversations during hands/spins/rolls.......all seem to be the antithesis of the very serious math based AP type play.

How may times have I heard that gambling is not entertainment...its a business venture to be taken seriously.

People can view gambling different at different times.

I've been to a couple WoVCons, and both times we gambled as a group.

It was purely for fun, for fellowship / comraderie, as are the McNugget challenges and other such events.

Not all the members of WoV are serious AP gamblers, in fact they are almost certainly in the minority: I suspect there were more before the Wiz sold the board.

Probably the most serious AP gamblers would not go to WoVCon anyway, as frivolity is likely not part of their program / gambling regimen.

I'm not going, but I don't think I'll be going to Las Vegas as frequently as I once did, as I can get equivalent gambling closer to home and with better comps.

I really hate that M Life tightened their comps and that most Las Vegas casino/hotels charge a resort fee.

It just isn't worth the expense, as other opportunities are available.

Speaking of that, MrV, I ran across your photo at one of the meet ups......the one where the beached whale erased herself from a photo because she didn't look like Heidi Klum. That whale sailed about 40 years ago.

You had on a flying dice shirt and you look like the cat that swallowed the canary. You must have gotten lucky. Gambling or other?

Yeah, that dice shirt got me thinking.

I get it....if you go to vegas you wear a shirt with dice
If you go to Hawaii you wear shirts with palm trees and water
If you go to a whorehouse, you wear a shirt with flying penises and vaginas

Not my style, but to each his own.

I got the shirt (two of them, actually, one maroon, one blue) at K-Mart for about eight bucks each quite a few years ago.

Onlyl rarely are they worn: WoVCon seemed like the ideal time.

No, my grin was not gambling related, just feeling fine that day, happy to be healthy, in Las Vegas, and in the company of quasi-friends.

Oh, and if I ever do go to a whorehouse I won't wear a shirt with flying penises and vaginas: I'll be sporting a condom.

I understand. fully. In the name of fellowship and camaraderie people also wear white sheets. Just ask stanton. Just because people do things together it doesnt make their action socially acceptable or respectful of others. From people on a site that is littered with complaints of being disrespected or insulted......the mcnugget "camaraderie" is extremely hypocritical, especially by the wiz and his followers who always clamored that we need to show respect for "mikes house".

Knowing that trying to eat 100 individually fried pieces of meat can cause vomiting, gagging, and other unpleasant sounds and visuals, and forcing that onto an unsuspecting public...is great fellowship for people who think the world revolves around themselves....and no one else matters.

The visual of husband of the year vomiting outside a macdonalds says it all.

Its the fellowship of socially backward people who think this behavior is just peachy....if it makes them happy.

Even the Nathans yearly eating contest, is held outside of the store on a podium with big banners(that lets people know whats occurring), where people can still have a meal inside the store, without being forced to view the contest. The contest isnt forced on the unsuspecting public.

And of course there will be bettors on the contest rooting for someone to vomit. Yeah, nice for the other people in the store.

what a great fellowship of adults.

Sounds like more of a fraternity prank....involving young kids that dont yet have a fully developed sense of right and worng., acceptable/unacceptable

There were no McNugget challenges when I attended the WoVCons.

The closest would have been the Wiz's trivia challenge.

It was interesting to meet and talk to people I'd only gotten to know throw gambling boards.

No fast friendships, just a bit of comfort in Sin City.

It is common knowledge, that k-mart made a ton of money with their line of flying penis and vagina, shirts, blouses, and lunch boxes

I didnt say you attended or even suggest that. I was just commenting on your classification of the challenge as just being good camaraderie /fellowship....like gambling together.
I dont see the similarity .

I agree, you have to count expenses if you are going to vegas to mostly gamble. I though that resort fees have been around for a long time....maybe I am wrong.

I dont care about comps personally. My worst loss invegas was about 14 years ago when I was a diamond Harrahs player in reno, and got a week comped at the Rio. I felt obligated to play there more than I should have, and had my worst loss in vegas.
When I stopped with the comps, and just gambled more free and easy where I wanted to go...things got better.

I still go once a year even though I spend 2 days every week in reno.

    not only for gambling.

Vegas does have a bigger selection of poker tables. In reno, alot of locals, and good players. In vegas alot of tourists and weaker players.
Sports betting pretty much the same, not worth leaving home for.

But I still always go to the Bellagio art museum, and a few fave restaurants. And usually see a show.

Plus me and the wife spend hours and hours talking to the dudes that hand out flyers on the strip. I think alot of them used to shop at Kmart

From WOV on Oct 10, 2012. "Fashion Thread". Enjoy!

    Mission146-the deranged hillbilly said:

"I try not to buy clothes as much as possible, it seems like a waste of money when I can get Logos Polos and T-shirts for free. In the event I cannot, however, then I will usually get shirts from yard sales, you just have to make sure to put them in a garbage bag right after you buy them and take them to the laundromat (not at your house) and then throw them in the dryer for half an hour, or so. This is the real husband of the year writing like a fifth grader. Makes you wonder who writes his articles for him.....the ones he thinks deserve a Pulitzer.

Here's one more: "I am not spending more than $10.00 on as many shirts, though (excepting my WOV shirt) not fucking happening". Isn't this the same hypocrite that suspended someone for a disguised F word that may not have even been the F word?

There's more in the thread. That's who they have running the board over there. I think his face has been in one too many trash cans.

He actually responded to my post once telling me to use the guide...use language that would be appropriate for the wizards 7 year old son (or whatever age the kid was).
    what a hypocrite.
Maybe Wizards son now smokes cigars, has a 5 oclock shadow, and curses like a sailor. So maybe the F word is now appropriate to use as sonny boy has grown up.

Spike/EB is the same guy who said he wouldn't get back on WoV because of the Jabba the Whale, but guess what? he came crawling back
    what a loser............................

But SPike/EB did get one thing right. There are far fewer interesting posters on Wov
But that's what you get when you play favorites and let losers like Big Bad Boz, terapined, rxwhiner & aids288 get everything they want

apeaking of aids288 he just called someone "gay". will Jabba the Whale suspend him???????????????????????????
    doubt it...........................
