Again, that post I cited is not agasint wov rules and could have easily have been posted THERE.
nothing wrong with that post ..its factual and has a legit point made.

So the only reason you dont post it over there and hide behind a comment on tin cup waving 2 years ago is that you are afraid. You are afraid of getting pushback. You are afraid of being on the unpopular side . So you post it in a safe place....a thread called "wov is dying". Perfect///SAFE....and little chance of the content being viewed negatively .

Bowing to a man that has said "dont let the door hit you" and also that he bans when in a bad mood, and that a wall of shame is part f the culture of the board.........for someone like that I would rather bow out on my terms than to hang around and tap dance,tip toe, and cow tow.

I am proud of the last 3 posts that got me nuked, and would not change a thing, I knew there was a itchy trigger on the nuke button for me....and I went out saying what I actually felt.

And to this day, Face, Mission, and manboy.....cant come up with a reason.

EB sent me a PM, telling me to be carefull..they are going to look for anything to nuke me for. And I told him in repsonse....I cant live like that tiptoeing around . If its gonna happen..its gonna happen.

So no I dont envy MrV....I went out of wov with my eyes wide open. Not because I didnt know the "line".......but because I didnt think the line was fairly drawn for certain individuals and I dont like the feel of eggshells on my feet.

I argue that you are ANGRY at having been nuked, and that your anger spills over to this board and affects how you look at what others post concerning WoV.

I believe you miss the quality of the argument you sometimes engaged in there: lord knows that is what you really want to do: argue.

I don't "walk on eggshells," unless by that you mean I choose to craft my posts so that they stay within the forum rules.

I'll remind you that I joined this forum after being lambasted and insulted from afar by LarryS, who trolled me over.

I share some, but not all, of the disgruntlement evidenced by many of you, yet for me the benefit of WoV membership outweighs the negative.

 

There was one post that stood out, where manboy was yapping about loaning a friend $10k I think it was, which wasn't paid back, then flippantly threw in, that he wins and loses those kind of amounts daily, if I recall, I think on the stocks. Not going back to find it. Noticeable how the topic of BBB's personal details that are available on the web, is already a few pages deep and the topic rapidly changed, was it some kind of deliberately ploy?
What about the state of that lawn?

In the last few months I recall BBB suspending somebody, while throwing in the comment, they have been making disparaging remarks on another board..

 

i have just a right to be angry that i was nuked, as the guy who walks over the edge of the grand canyon and is angry that he is falling.

I behaved as i felt I needed to behave and I was not blindsided. I knew stepping off the edge of the grand canyon causes one to fall.

Its just that i wouldnt be forced to bow down to a false self proclaimed god, a vindictive god who punishes when he is in a bad mood

I was aware of MrV's comments exactly when he made them. Saw it all, real time. As I've said, I've been reading y'all since even before that. It's not that hard to look further than knee-jerk and catch the guy's meaning. I too with 100% honesty could state there's some real pains in the ass there. Would you assume I mean all of them are? A majority, even?

That's how I took it. Not addressing the forum as such, but addressing such that were in the forum.

And maybe MrV is that misanthropic. If he enjoys the atmosphere, if he enjoys his masochistic fix, what's it hurting?

I further don't understand the disparaging of his conduct. I smoke like a tire fire and I do not care who doesn't like it, but I comport myself in public based on either property owner's wishes or general societal norms. That means no smoking in stores, or restaurants, not on school grounds, the local park, I don't even smoke on gaming floors that allow smoking, despite my "goddamn rights". V does the same in regards to WoV. Yet he's disparaged? Should be lauded, IMO.

Sometimes you just make a stand and act like an upstanding citizen of your community rather than purely seeking your "enjoyment". Sometimes you grow a pair of balls and be a man. ....rather than throwing rocks from a distance and hiding under mommies skirt whe you have the opportunity to throw those rocks close up and personal and look your opponent in the electronic equivalent of the eye.

However I never EVER saw you post something negative about wov here......that you wouldnt post over there . I think you would take the heat over there and let the chips fall where they may. If you have something negative to say about WOV, and you dont use insults, or foul language......post it here...fine.....But post it over there too if you have access.

LarryS., I could just as easily stop posting here and limit my gambling boards to WoV and GG, but then I'm sure you'd be spewing more shit about me, which would just be irksome, watching you blather and work yourself into a frenzy over essentially nothing, with me as the target.

So I stay here, try to enjoy the board and the company of others: even you on occasion: after all, we both enjoy insulting and arguing.

I believe I have no "protection" by WoV mods: I don't need it, I've never sought it.

I've never PM'ed them, never discussed it, and never would.

Fact is, I rather like the place, and one big reason I came over here was to rebut the ridiculous claim that the board is dying.

It isn't.

I do sometimes pile on here, which is only human, and yes, I will say stuff here that could get me suspended there, but so what?

the people who have a symbiotic realtionship with the folks that get off on punishing.

as folks that dont enjoy seeing and or being party of punishment leave......it increases the percentage of folks that pat the punishers on the back and say...."good job".

If a message board is not growing.....it is dying. Thats a simple statement of fact. Member visits are down 30-40percent daily compared to 2 years ago.

But the folks that love to see punishment administered, the folks that love to say "great suspension" the folks that cry...."look look look here is an insult......lets see a suspension........gives the manboy go ahead to punish when he is in a bad mood, and whale girl to punish for content.
It gives husband of the year an invitation to play to the crowd with "you are the weakest link"

So the more people like yourself that walks on eggshells or "plays his cards while complimenting the sick action of punishment and attempted shaming....the more wov will die.

I am a gambling man.

By that, I mean I enjoy gambling in casinos and reading about gambling.

In fact, I often imagine myself in a casino at night, while trying to fall asleep; some guys count sheep, I visualize craps plays and high limit slot play.

I've participated in various gambling boards for many years; some have turned to dust, and some have thrown me out on my kiester due to my skepticism/disbelief of the efficacy of dice setting.

When alt.rec.craps went south, I searched for another board, and discovered WoV.

My initial impression was very positive, as the members for the most part scoff at dice setting, and actually value the scientific method and understand that math is more important to gambling success than superstition.

OK, now to try to answer your question.

First and foremost, I feel I am a small part of a larger community.

I find the people there are eclectic and, for the most part, quite intelligent (political threads notwithstanding): this often leads
to a variety of interesting topics and discussions.

Some of the posters are "way out there," and I get humor from their posts (gotta take your entertainment where you can find it).

I am not a person who enjoys drama in my actual day to day life, but I enjoy it vicariously via message boards: WoV gives me a safe "fix" of drama, with the suspensions, the arguments about suspensions, my own suspensions, and of course this thread, the ultimate
WoV drama thread: this satisfies my need to revel in the absurdities of the human condition.

I've attended a couple WoVCons, and enjoyed the comaraderie and the ability to put a face to a name.

While not an AP, I get pleasure reading about AP: it is intellectually stimulating, although drier than dirt.

I'm married, I've raised a family, been involved in a variety of civic clubs and activities, and now I just want to have time to myself, to howl like the lone wolf I really am.

That board, plus other boards, gives me just that opportunity.
