Lounge A question for a Jazz Buff

I am not a JAZZ fan. I have been searching around the internet for a while trying to find the name of this group.
I saw them on PBS maybe 10 years ago, I liked their sound. I think they were mostly white musicians.

And the arraignments sounded similar to stuff I would hear from Frank Zappa years ago

They had a weird name...maybe it was a persons name. Maybe started with a P.

maybe 2 syllables then one syllable.

totally isntrumental...no vocals that I can remember

 

Larry, I haven't a clue who you are talking about. But here is my favorite jazz song. It's called Midnight in Moscow by Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen.

 

this was a different kind of jazz, with horns of course pluss xylophone

 

Dunno, but John Klemmer's "Touch" is a good one.

 

More likely a vibraphone.

 

Can you hum it for us?

 

Larry's favorite instruments are of course the skin flute and the chin cello..He also enjoys humming a few bars to the scrotum sax
