I wouldn't agree that diamonds are worth less than cow manure. Sure, if you're on a deserted island and no way off for the rest of your days, yes. but who are you trying to kid? we're someone gonna get stranded on a deserted island for the rest of our days, and this proves diamonds are worthless? sorry, i could take any diamond ring down to a pawn shop and get more for it than a bag of manure!

I agree diamonds are more valuable but only because other people will buy them. My point was they have no intrinsic value to you beyond your ability to sell them to someone else. Actually they do have some commercial value in drilling and electronics.

Emeralds on the other hand have almost NO industrial application, so perhaps that would have been a better example.

This all goes back to the value of money itself. It's all essentially worthless and useless unless you have someone willing to trade something useful for it.

 

yes frank, but that argument is moot. it's like saying, "if the world didn't exist, we wouldn't be concerned about anything!" the fact is, the world does exist and so do diamonds and currency. diamonds are more than just veblen in nature. they're alluring, tradeable, give feelings of wealth. so does cash if you have enough of it on your person.

 

i think what you were driving at frank, is probably this: that the wealthy asians with large wads of cash at jupiters, were trying to impress their girlfriends and others, betting with those large wads of cash in a public gambling arena, rather than a private one.

i don't think saying "there's a veblen effect of large wads of cash that are inherently worthless," quite makes the point that the above statement does.

 

With all Asia gamblers it's about Face, biggest stack of chips on the table, biggest bettor, best guessor.

Heard tales of Asian players losing big at the table and walking away with a "I don't care" attitude. Once out of eye-sight, the are going crazy as a mofo, heart attacks, the works.

 

I'll concede that. It was probably not the best analogy. It does irk me that we value things because other people value those things. It's like the Kardashians being famous for being famous.

The thing about Garnabby is his words and thoughts becomes jumbled, it's like the left side of his brain is contradicting the right. The only time he makes any sense is when he re-reads his posts for the next 24 hours before hitting the post button. Anyway he has posted a link to his profile on VegasCasinoTalks above, his posts on the chat board WoV mod Face created called "thepenaltybox", would indicate severe mental issues, perhaps he is better now, no idea.

First of all anyone that doesn t play any casino game should not have an opinion if the casinos cheat or not.
If you do not play you have no experience with anything about casino games so how do you know if they cheat or not?
You do not, period.

Next thing i would like to say is for God s sake the internet is full of proofs.
There are many players here who claim they play for 20-30 or even 40 years and they have no clue about the subject.

Go on youtube and see how many manipulated roulette spins are there.
Countless proofs for every game.

Also you forget about something, casinos do not want just to make some money.
They want to make as much as possible per round per spin you name it.

So online casinos cheat when they want.
I can not talk about B&M because i have very little experience with them.

I've been cheated at a B&M casino at the Baccarat table, I've posted about it before, few times actually. Could I prove it, nope.

I won't repeat it again, because I know what the response will be, then again somebody like you would never understand, because you don't play at the level I was playing at back then, also your not as good as me. I will say this however, the reason they cheated (deck manipulation), was because I took for for over 60k inside a week, and they wanted to bring it to an end by any means necessary.

But i'll tell ya what, if ya post a crypto address I'll send you some spare change via Binance so ya can have a wash.
