It was really bad what happened where I used to live. A couple went to the casino fifty miles away for a fun night of dinner and gambling. They won a few hundred not alot if I remember correctly. A couple of thugs saw them cash out at the cage. Followed them to their car. Followed them for fifty miles and when the couple got home jumped out robbed and then killed both of them....... I now always try to be aware of who is hanging around the cage when I cash out. I also watch to see if I'm followed....

I have had similar experiences, though they involved more martial arts and comedy...and no one died. I hope these people weren't close to you.

Perhaps, it's just me, but the concept of someone dying over money, which is a contrived and imaginary medium of exchange, is to me the worst and most pointless way to die...

Probably 10 years ago I was in Vegas playing Downtown because I always play Downtown. I was playing roulette for short periods. I would get done at Four Queens and go across the street to the Fremont for short time then to Binion's and then to the Golden Nugget. Then back to Four Queens and do the circuit again. I was winning on all these tables but I never cashed out because in those days Downtown the casinos would take other Downtown casinos chips like they were their own, I don't know if they still do that or not.

Anyway, at the third casino in the tour I noticed there was a guy watching me play that I seen watching me play in the last casino. He did not look like a crook but what does a crook look like. Thin middle-aged slick-back blonde hair and he had on white pants so he was pretty hard to miss. I get to the Golden Nugget and there he is pretending to do something else but really he's watching me play. I get back to the Four Queens and do the whole circuit again and for sure this guy is watching everything I do. I haven't cashed out yet and I'm going to cash out at the Four Queens because I'm staying there. The security station is right there on the gambling floor, I think it's next to the cashier but I don't remember. So there is Mr White Pants 20 ft away from me and I stopped abruptly at the security station and start making a report to the guard by raising my voice and pointing my finger over and over at my stalker. Man did he disappear fast, it was almost like a magic act. I didn't want him robbing me in the elevator or in the hallway outside my room if that was his intention. As far as I know that's the closest I ever came to being robbed. I got to say it was a very creepy feeling having that guy following me around. When I thought about it later he did have a kind of Vegas gangster look about him. It's the middle-aged part that threw me off because I always expect crooks to be really young and this guy was pushing 50. I'm sure it confused him cuz I never cashed out. I also seldom buy in, I usually have the casinos chips in my pocket already which makes it hard for them to determine how much I've won. Usually if the pit asks the dealer what I bought in for that's my cue to leave. In Vegas anyway. In those days I sat at the table and played and I don't do that anymore. I wait in the background walk up and make a bet.

Here's a funny casino story, hilarious in fact. Some 54 year old slob living in Toronto, thought he had it made using some delayed progression and grand Marty, pulling in a few dollars he the there. Then one day, talk about "worst case", it was a complete down trou', which left him spread across the table and shagged until he bled. Maybe this is how he got the HIV, nobody knows.

Bankroll utterly and totally wiped out, he was left devastated, trying to hide the hurt and shock, put on a fake smile and muttered what only he could, an unconvincing softly spoken "hey hey", left his trembling lips. Heart racing, eyes welling up, lips quivering, he altered his gaze firmly to the direction of the floor, wanting out of the casino as fast as he could muster. He made for the exit, maybe if he didn't think about it, it never really happened, if only real life could be like this he pondered.

Kind of ironic, had he just a few more dollars, he would have won the next cue. Alas, he had shot his load, no more gambling for this bozo for some time, there will be more pressing needs, such as meeting everyday expenses, keeping on the lights, how to stop the cold sores flaring up, he set oof on a mission how to get even, he wanted revenge and let no Party Poker shoe stand in his way.

This got me thinking of two cousins I used to play softball with. On Sunday morning the one cousin called the other and asked if he would come over. When he got there the first cousin yelled to come on in. He was sitting in his recliner. He picked up his lotto ticket and asked his cousin to call the store and recheck his numbers and how much he won. When he got off the phone he told the first cousin he had won 1. something million. I don't remember the exact amount I think it was close to two. He asked if he would come back and take him to go get his money on Monday.

No problem of course. When he got to his house he was still sitting in the chair. He got up, cleaned up, loaded up in a twenty plus year old truck to be driven by his cousin across the state. His cousin asked why he was still sitting in the chair. He said he was afraid that if he moved he would have a heart attack and die. On the way home bought a new pickup and a new car for his wife. Typical spend for a lotto winner. Did rather well with the rest....
