i would ask the ADMIN not to move this post above, because this exemplifies what some APs are. And if this thread is about being an AP and the life of an AP....then this should stand.....and since he is the original poster, he opened up the can of worms himself....he has only himself to blame.

So ADMIN...we have to take the good with the bad. If this is what the life of an AP includes...then it should be commented on.

obviously from MC quote, the life of an AP isnt all beautiful scenery as he posted. There can be a dark miserable side that requires a dulling of the mind with alcohol or for others, drugs.

Based on the recent drunken rant, I feel the following old response is on topic for this thread.. Yes there is great scenery and beauty in the life of an AP that stops to smell the roses, due to supposed carefree lifestyle and being your own boss, setting your own hours, very glamourous and inviting. But then you get the dark side....of it. The side that causes one to douse your brain with alcohol.

So here is my response to the comment on THIS thread .....by those who think MC is just sooooo cool.....living his like as he does. Here is my counter to the comment by boz.

I know its an illness, and I am notarbitrarily using his illness to make a nonsensical point. But alcohol is a depressant. I dont find a loud drunk(loud as far as what I can see here) who has a history of using vulgarities while under the influence, in conjunction with racial slurs....and even threatened physical harm to the manboy in one drunken tirade........I dont find his actions to be proof that he is enjoying life. That is a stretch for me.

2 years after I graduated college, I attended the funeral of a classmate who was an alcoholic. We all knew it, and we loved to be around him.He was such a happy alcoholic. Always made us laugh. And then after we graduated, and we didnt need his happy go lucky nonsense as we all went off to work and have responsible lives...2 years later he ran into the side of a bowling alley by driving off the railing of a highway exit ramp and falling into the side of the building...drunk of course.

And at his funeral, all his friends and relatives romanticized his life.... in that he lived his life how he wanted to....as if that was somehow noble. This was not a cautionary tale, ..oh no...this was an example of living life on your terms....while others just stand on the side and applaud and tell you how great you are, how lucky you are....what a happy drunk you are....dont change......stay the way you are. Heck I was guilty of that. I leaned what it was like to be an applauding bystander to someone in the process of committing suicide.

I need more info than boz, before I can say that MC lives the good life. I dont know that. Even MC's definition of "the good life"....I dont know what that is, and I dont know if he has achieved it and is happy with it. Maybe yes, maybe no. I just dont know.

I would say stress and unhappiness with ones job and lifestyle are contributing factors to needing to continue to dive into a bottle, or take a needle.
there is some unhappiness involved somewhere.
There is a need.....and a cause.

 

Larry, I come from a long line of bootleggers. I've been hard drinking since I was 16 years old, long before I was ever an AP. I succeeded in the gambling world despite my booze habit. I don't drink at home. I drink at the bar with friends and we have a good time getting drunk. But I also sober up. Malignant narcissists like yourself have no cure for your disease. You can never sober up from it.

Singer quit posting here when he ran into you. He knows another malignant narcissist when he see's one....just like a skunk knows another skunk when he runs into one in the woods. He wants no part of another malignant narcissist. He knows what they are about, running other people down. It's the only thing that gives you malignant narcissists any relief from your self loathing.

So my response to boz was simply this. Based on my past experience, I cannot and will not enable an alcoholic with pats on the back and words of encouragement as to how enjoyable they are, and how they are living life on their terms...blahblah blah. My enjoyment at your expense as you endanger your life (and maybe lives of others) is non existent. I dont view you as an attraction.

One day you may need a new liver, or you may physically hurt yourself seriously based on your inability to act or react to certain dangers when u are drunk......and the people who thought your drunken rants were so cool, so humorous, so entertaining .....will be nowhere to be seen.
They wont be at your bedside, they wont be there to empty your bedpan, they wont be there to buy your groceries....but they will have great stories on how amused they were when you would drunkenly rant. So entertaining.

And I am never convinced that alcoholics live a life where they never put others in danger. I dont know for a fact about you so I cannot assume.

But I am willing to bet a box of Jr Mints......that if you have drinking buddies, they have watched you leave a bar, on the way to your car total wasted.
I personally couldnt do that.

You need someone in your life that would wrestle the keys out of your hand......not someone who says....you are so funny mickey...and have a nice ride home.
