It's easy to understand...bet 1-1-2-4 if you win rather than 1-1-1-1. The progressive wont hurt your BR.... losing the first bet is same with flat betting...

If you mean the negative progression, well I have to agree...but I don't (trying not to) apply that....

Consider you will encounter 8 single wins for every 4 double wins for every 2 triple wins for every 1 quad win.
Flat betting 1-1-1-1
Flat betting 1u. 8 single wins followed by a loss. wlwlwlwlwlwlwlwl = 0
Flat betting 1u. 4 double wins followed by a loss. wwlwwlwwlwwl = +4
Flat betting 1u. 2 triple wins followed by a loss. wwwlwwwl = +4
Flat betting 1u. 1 quad win followed by a loss. wwwwl = +3
Total = + 11 units

Positive betting the 1-1-2-4-(4)

Positive betting 1u. 8 single wins followed by a 1u loss. = 0
Positive betting 1u. 4 double wins followed by a 2u loss. = 0
Positive betting 2u. 2 triple wins followed by a 4u loss. = 0
Positive betting 4u. 1 quad win followed by a (4u) loss = 4
Total = + 4 units

You are losing units flat betting does not. If you reduce that (4) bet back to 1, then you would be at +7, same as flat betting the original 1u. If you only reduce it to (2) then you will be at +6. And though it appears you will start to gain some ground if you stay flat at the new 2u bet, you will not. Check it against of set of truth tables, they do not lie. Start it with 128 single wins and work it up to a single streak of 8, and then pit your favorite 8 step progression against it. Positive/negative, it matters not.

Factor in the couple of extra losses the House Edge will provide you with and you may never put money on the felt again.
