I'm pretty sure I caught at least a scintilla of the admin "gloating" in his recent posts, wherein he pummeled redietz for hypocrisy.

If not "gloating," then perhaps a bit of righteousness mixed in with a dash of the imperial.

I love the use by admin of the royal prerogative: "we."

 

gloating and righteousness in the context of debating is the meat and potatoes of a hotly contested debate.

gloating and righteousness tied to unilateral punishment where the recipient cannot respond is cowardly and oppressive

gloating and righteousness within a climate where even if not tied to punishment, ...but proper responses to it would lead to certain punishment is equally cowardly and oppressive.

the actions of most mods at wov ....whether its self righteousness, or gloating, or mocking by themselves is not a big deal if people are allowed to vigorously respond to said remarks......but its the actions that are tied to the words that are cowardly and oppressive......

and that is not seen here.

If the admin here asked for donations and then added,..if you dont give then I want to know why.

He would be in a large debate at that point.....a debate he wouldnt be able to run from......because HE doesnt run.

And the people responding would not worry about being punished.

imagine that....a self righteous post by an admin leading to a debate, and responses that make the admin uncomfortable....and no punishment.

can manboy handle that???? Why not??

I'm not saying I have a problem with admin; I am saying your comment, i.e. "Note that the mod here doesnt gloat about suspending people as a psychological salve.....he doesnt tell people they are the weakest link.....," while perhaps technically correct, does not completely reflect reality.

The admin is human, of course, not a machine, and when attacked understandably defends himself and when he perceives he's prevailing in an argument doesn't hesitate to rub it in.

Understandable, I suppose: the guy is not a remote, unemotional robot.

My concern: as with WoV, the actions of the admin will become a main topic for conversation on what should be a gambling-themed board.

 

Axel is a 110% 'douchebag' by his own admissions and claims of being an 'AP'er. He talks down to almost everyone and claims to know all about everything and blatantly and outright demeans and humiliates 99.5% of everybody on every board. He even claimed and publically accused me of creating phone calls by proxy numbers using elaborate sound effects including police sirens and sounds and of course casino sounds to bother the almighty king!!! LOL, fuck me....I must be back in 1970's South Florida in the Miami Vice days!!!!! The guy is a douchbag and a certifiable asshole.

 

At wov, the single thread devoted to the topic of mods and their treatment of people didnt seem to retard the posting at other threads.

a mod engaging in a debate making ones self accessible and not holding yourself as aloof, above reproach,..actually could reduce the volume of posts on a topic....as people cancome out and say what they want to say, no walking on eggshells,. You get to read what people think and get frank responses.

For example...look at all the mileage some of us get from the manboy waving a tin cup and on top of that asking for a reason why you dont donate.

Imagine if a bunch of people felt that it was ok to without punishment say "who are you to demand a reason, we dont owe you anything ..its offensive to even read that"
And what if the manboy after seeing numerous posts going back and forth on that topic....responded....."here is the reasons why I approached it this way, you may not agree, but If I offended people I apologize"

then it would have been fucking over. A mod addresses the issues after seeing numerous posts on the topic, and its over. What more can be said after that.

The same here....the admin puts all his cards on the table and sometimes he sticks to his cards, and sometimes something comes out where he says.."good point, I will do x,y, and z to address it.

If he suspends people for speaking their mind...his site will not get better.

so I dont agree that the freedom to speak your mind with a reasonable admin/mod causes out of control massive never ending posts that overtake a site.

If anything the massive pages for "discussion of the suspension list" was caused by the perpetual inability of the mods to communicate...and punish instead, hiding behind vague veils of "trolling" ""insult" and"we all know why". As the people were punished for speaking their mind, it was a never ending perpetual motion machine....people complain about neighbors being punished, and then they get punished, and then others complain about the new punishments, and then they get punished....and on and on it goes.

 

You made your point..............now isn't it time to admit the 'dual role' of Admin and 'Well Known Member'??
