No it doesn't, a bet between two individuals whether solicited or not, has nothing to do with the board. A prime example, in the casino a big hitter asked me to remove my $200 opposing bet, and said I will pay you if I lose. The pit boss said to me, "it is nothing to do with us, if she doesn't pay" obviously. I was fine with that, she won and refunded my chips which she had taken, saved me a loss. Some while later she did the same thing, this time she lost and paid me out.

Some casinos won't allow side wagers, swapping of chips between players. What a personal wager has to do with a forum I don't know, it sounds (not surprisingly) anal to nuke somebody for it.

I suppose if you know someone well enough, you can make that case.

The problem is that if what's being said is valid, then the intent isn't really relevant. The person submitting the counter-mainstream letter to an academic journal knows, and even relishes, the weeping and gnashing of teeth it will cause. But so what? Does that mean he/she shouldn't send it?

The other problem with this "he's a troll" complaint is that it's self-reflective. Nobody can control a reader's subjective response (emotional, upset, etc.) but the reader. So you wind up with a reader deciding, based on his own reaction, if someone is a big bad troll. Anytime a reader wants to be upset, he can deride the writer as a troll.

LarryS goes on a bit, but except for his back-forths with OAB and WizofNada, he lays out a fairly unemotional case.

If I remember correctly, it was strictlyAP who was nuked for non-payment of a bet. I can't remember who it was that he didn't pay but they argued about it quite a bit. And I think one of the mods said it was a secret mod that nuked him.

Someone who makes people "dicontented" by being on the wrong side of an issue is a troll. While posting on a site where challenges can occur.
Posting on a site that people cannot enter and hurling insults from a distance is cowardly.

So a coward calling me a troll....used that grand.

Personally I would rather be labeled a troll.

And as far as BBB having plenty of ammunition to nuke me. Well she was never shy about using ammunition. And I had no special favorable relationship with the wiz. So sure she could have nuked me.
But she would gave had to do it without giving a reason. And in my 3 posts since returning from suspension...There was no reason.only the wuz had ttgeoower to nuke with no reason given....

Your problem was attempting to go toe to toe with the Wiz.

    His forum, his rules.

He does not like criticism, and will punish critics.

You lost your power play, in which you attempted to "expose" him as an emperor without clothes.

    What did LarryS lose?

I'm not trying to be dense here. I really don't see what he lost from any practical perspective.

He "lost" as he got nuked.

    LarryS. doesn't like getting nuked.

John Patrick barred him, and LarryS. kept sneaking back in, he just couldn't take "no" for an answer.

To his credit, after the Wiz threw him out LarryS. hasn't tried to sneak back in under new names like he did with Patrick: instead he barks and snarls on other boards, first GG, now here.

I'm not saying the man doesn't make any good points: I am saying he has an agenda, i.e. "payback" for showing him the door.

As I posted before, the guy is relentless.

Here's how I see it. As an outsider, maybe I'm missing some key element. If so, please educate me.

LarryS got nuked. He can just have a friend or family member sign up on WoV, give him the codes, and access any info on WoV he needs or wants.

Meanwhile, LarryS gets to post unfettered here and really go after Shackleford to a degree he would not have if he were still on WoV.

Now admittedly, this is (currently) a low profile, semi-B-league site. But imagine if LarryS had some serious cash (which he may have) and elected to use it to take out a half page ad in USA Today either criticizing Shackleford or promoting this site, which would of course feature LarryS's posts prominently.

In any case, LarryS comes out of this relatively, from a practical non-I-wanna-be-in-frat perspective, unaffected.

Shackleford comes out of this with a real potential downside.

I see Shackleford as the actual loser. Shackleford may not see it that way, but I can't quantify vanity, so I don't have a handle on the importance to one's psyche of not being challenged or criticized every day.

This makes him a very small person.
Except his forum should be trying to attract certain people, expert AP people, in order to offer a range of opinions and have successful people share how they do things. This "his forum, his rules" mentality likely turns off some of those very people.
He has said he was wrong in private to me. o_O But refuses to say so in public. That is being two-faced or a form of lying and dishonesty.
You are mistaken MrV. Larry and some others of us have indeed exposed Mike for what he is....dishonest and unfair in his treatment of some people. He may be a great math guy and I wish I had a fraction of his mathematical ability, but he has proven to be a dishonest and unfair person of low integrity and just an awful site administrator.

MrV, if you are measuring this exercise in terms of who is winning and who is losing, by whether any of us are going to be welcome back at WoV, then you sir....are an idiot. That is not what any of this is about. In my opinion Mike has been exposed as a great math guy but very lacking in not just 'people skills' but basic decency of treating people.

It really doesn't take all that much to say "hey I was wrong" and "how can we fix this". Most of us admit these things regularly. Even in situation where he doesn't feel he was wrong, a good site administrator, would have the mentality of "still, how can we reach some sort of compromise and move forward so we can all benefit other. This guy has none of that. With him, it always "my way or the highway".

I agree, it is not about being "welcome back at WoV."

It is about payback / consequences for being nuked.

KJ seems to make level headed criticisms, his intent seeming to be posting comments "for the good of WoV," whereas LarryS. is concerned only with his own agenda, i.e. revenge; he could give a flying fuck about whether or not the board changes, he just wants to stick a sharp stick in the Wiz's eye.

    Relentless is as relentless does.

    "Outed?"

He's been hiding in plain sight.

No, I am just trying to point out that he has an agenda, and his comments need to be looked at in that context.

I agree with some of what he has to say: he has every right to keep on saying it.

I appreciate the "level headed" comment, MrV. I really do try hard to do just that, although admittedly at times I am not successful as frustration and anger gets the better of me.

And yes, I am angry about my treatment. Angry that my reputation has been damaged, by someone who set out to do just that (Qfit) and someone aided him in doing so (Shackleford) whether that as intentional or not by Shackleford, and it appears to me it was. And yes there is more than enough blame that I accept some for my poor handling of the 'aftermath' situation.

But never the less I still feel angry. And I guess selfishly, I would like there to be consequences to Mike for his handling of my situation. And if his reputation is damaged as well, I don't feel bad for him.

I also want to address this "welcome back at WoV" thought.

I just don't believe that I did anything wrong at WoV to begin with. There is an argument that I broke a truce, but it is a truce that should have never been demanded/requested of me in the first place. Other than that all I did was express my honest opinion about another site, the members of that site pushing an agenda and the man running that site and as a professional AP, (blackjack player in my case), I have not only a right but a responsibility to do that. So I maintain that I did nothing wrong that should have lead to my nuking.

Of course here is where LarryS will chime in that I am focused only on myself and my own situation....but really who gives a rats ass what LarryS thinks. :p

Larry also likes to repeatedly make reference that I would go back if invited. Maybe I would....maybe I wouldn't. I have not made that determination and likely will not have to. If that possibility arose, I would weight things like my affection for some of the members of that site and my enjoyment of participating there vs my disappointment in how I was treated. Part of that would include the circumstances of any return, so I can't say what I exactly what I would do and neither can LarryS, so I am annoyed that he repeatedly says what I 'would' do.

I can tell you that no matter what, I have learned some things about Mike that I didn't know and are very disappointing. Just things like his attitude on shaming and his total lack of respect for his membership and his "my way or the highway" mentality. Things that if I had bothered to look into prior to deciding to participate there, I probably would have opted not to.

But ultimately, I have decided that the fact that Mike isn't the person I thought he was and doesn't measure up to the standards that I though he had, is probably my issue and not his. I thought he was a decent and honorable person. He's not. That is my mistake, and I shouldn't fault him because he is not who I thought he was.

The Wiz shot himself in the foot, reputation-wise, beginning the moment he waved the tin cup, while presumably aware that he was about to sell his site for a couple million dollars.

    Really?!

LarryS did not "criticize" Mike, he trolled him and the forum for a while. Look at the bacarat thread started by annabellete or w/e.

WOV is a forum, not a business.

If you talk shit to a pit boss or shift manager at a casino, you will almost certainly get kicked out. Just like you would if you were at many other businesses. (Probably not at McDonalds or WalMart or something like that, but I think that's more because they don't care [much] about their employees.)

The customer is not always right.
